Job Description
Operations Assistants at NOLS Alaska work as a team to care for campus facilities, provide operational support to other departments, and facilitate transportation for field courses. This position presents the opportunity for a great variety of work tasks all over campus with the bulk of work being outdoor based!

Be 21 years of age - NOLS Insurance requires drivers to be at least 21 years old
Location: NOLS Alaska (Palmer, Alaska)
Position type: Seasonal (April-September 2025)
Start date: Mid/Late - April 2025

What does an Operations Assistant do?
This role works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager. It includes the following activities:
Provide facilities support to students, faculty, and staff
Maintain clean and orderly facilities and grounds
Drive courses to and from trailheads using vans, trucks, and hatchback vehicles
Collaborate as a team to complete a regular list of daily tasks
Assist facilities manager with start-up and end of season tasks
Provide laundry support for operational departments
Assist with day to day operations when needed in rations, equipment, and transportation
Arrive promptly to work
Use power tools and lawn care equipment safely and responsibly
Work on small and large projects campus wide

Ability to be self-directed, take initiative, and make decisions independently
Adaptable to last minute adversity and uncertainty in logistics
Ready to work and communicate as a team
Willing to accommodate flexible work hours/schedules including holidays/weekends.
Able to lift and carry 60+ lbs (items such as propane tanks, laundry, and tools)
Eager to live and work in a small community that shares responsibility for maintaining common areas.
Capacity to approach challenges on campus with empathy
