About The Role

The Sunrise Organising Lab (SOL) program supports a movement ecosystem that challenges the finance sector to leverage its power and hasten the transition away from fossil fuels towards renewable energy. It does this by supporting Sunrise partners with campaigning, grassroots organising and mobilising, organisational development, finance project incubation, convenings, and network collaborations – through both grant and non-grant support like facilitation, strategy coordination, and network building.

The SOL Program Associate works closely with our team with a focus on helping us operate more efficiently and effectively so that we can focus on the SOL program deliverables.  The role has responsibility for : processing grants and contracts, providing administrative support at our meetings, events, and external outreach efforts; helping hiring managers with recruitment and on-boarding new team members; for ensuring knowledge assets are maintained and impact reporting is delivered

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaises with the Grants team, and provides high level advice and support to SOL team members and partners on grant and contract requests and processing by crafting partner communications, providing technical advice on the application process, writing memos based on partner proposals, monitoring budgets, and compiling reports.

  • Oversees team coordination, support activities and processes by developing and administering systems and protocols that support the SOL team in achieving its goals: providing logistical and meeting, and/pr event support, undertaking team calendar management, compiling performance reports, surveys and research.  

  • Supports the team lifecycle and acts as the interface between the People Operations, Legal and Finance teams: provides logistical support for hiring and onboarding/ offboarding staff,  inducts new team members on team processes, facilitates team member enquiries and resolves operational issues, maintains, updates and provides expert advice on Sunrise systems (Zoom, Slack, Asana, Google docs etc), and supports other internal-external processes to ensure the smooth running of the team.

  • Track deadlines and manage reporting and proposal data including assisting with compiling program outcomes, impact reports, and feedback for use in funder reporting and learnings.

Required skills, knowledge and experience    

  • Prior experience in an administrative, customer support or similar or related role including unpaid, grassroots or lived experience;  or other relevant transferable skills and experience.

  • Demonstrated skills and experience project administration executive/personal assistance, customer support and/or network coordination.

  • Experience  in events logistics, e.g. compiling agendas, run-sheets, participant requirements including travel arrangements, etc

  • Demonstrated  initiative and ability to collaborate within a team.

  • Strong competency in  adapting and improving systems and processes, including skills across a variety of office based IT systems (e.g. communication tools, email, project tracking software, etc - we use Macs!) 

  • A passion for action on climate change and a commitment to social justice

  • Fluency in verbal and written English and numeracy skills across a range of formats, including emails, spreadsheets, intranet, presentations etc.

Desirables

  • An interest in or commitment to the power of social movements to address the climate crisis and ensure a just transition rooted in climate justice 

  • A willingness to learn about social movements and climate finance

Job requirements

  • You must have full working rights for the country in which you are working.  The Sunrise Project is unable to sponsor applicants for employment visas.
