Mission
The Mothership is on a mission to build consumer brands that people want to be a part of. We are looking for a Head of Commercial/Head of Marketplaces to lead our marketplace team.

We need someone to own and advocate for the marketplace team - can bring leadership, processes, organisation, clarity.
We want someone to help us build long term value in our marketplace brands
We want someone who can help us level up as an SLT with their experience of ‘what good looks like’ in ecommerce and especially in health and wellness ecommerce.
We want another ‘driver’ in the senior team to help hold the business to really high standards
Desired Outcomes:
Ensure the portfolio has clear demand and sales forecasts that align with long term strategic plans.
Own the delivery of the long term strategy for the ‘marketplace’ portfolio of brands, leading the portfolio towards significant profitability improvements, channel diversification and the creation of long term brand value.
Lead the Marketplace division to ensure that projects and day-to-day work are delivered efficiently and with standardised and repeatable processes.
Level-up the Marketplace division to be truly at the forefront of their field.
Be the standard for best-in-class e-commerce strategy and execution across the business, working closely with other teams to improve alignment and communication.
Be the champion for the marketplaces division. Ensure the team is set up to succeed, that they stay at the forefront of their game.
Model best-in-class management across the business, ensuring standards of leadership and management are high.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Drive commercial performance and delivery across your portfolio of brands, serving as the decision-maker for pricing and promotional strategies.
Own the ways of working within the marketplace division, ensuring communication is strong across departments, and projects are delivered on time. Be an advocate for this at a company level.
Own the rhythm of work across the marketplace team, ensuring meetings are relevant and efficient, and that the team is regularly meeting in person.
Ensure there’s clear knowledge and process documentation within the marketplace division, so new hires can get up to speed regularly and issues and learnings are stored.
Analyse and measure commercial performance across the business and within each marketplace brand to guide strategy decisions and identify cost-saving and commercial opportunities. Own the creation of dashboards and reports that can be shared across the business to improve commercial ownership.
Work with the D2C team to deliver D2C growth and repeat revenue for the marketplace brands.
Work with Growth and Operations to ensure clear processes to ensure product compliance across the portfolio.
Manage and mentor up and coming leaders within the marketplace team and across the business.
Ensure commercial tactics are in harmony with long-term goals.
Collaborate closely with finance to refine investment decision-making frameworks for new projects.
Partner with Logistics to synchronise product availability with sales forecasts and marketing plans, balancing opportunity maximisation against the risk of overstock.
Prerequisite Qualifications / Skills
Demonstrated commercial acumen with a proven track record in business growth, particularly in an eCommerce environment. Marketplace experience preferred.
Strong proficiency in data analysis with an ability to operate effectively even when data is incomplete.
Experience in enhancing team and organisational output and efficiency.
Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and key eCommerce metrics, understanding their impact on business growth.
Experience in the Health & Wellness sector, with demonstrable insight into the trends, challenges and opportunities in the industry.
Experience in Direct to Consumer Marketing, Marketplaces, and Consumer Good:, demonstrating a deep understanding of how to manage and grow consumer brands across multiple channels.
Competencies:
Deep commercial insight with the ability to assess the financial impact of decisions and consistently prioritise the commercial health of our brands.
Thorough understanding of the eCommerce operations lifecycle.
Strong analytical skills to support robust decision-making.
Understanding of the marketplace ecosystem
Keen comprehension of the eCommerce customer journey, recognizing the importance of each conversion touchpoint and overall customer satisfaction
Familiarity with the Health & Wellness sector, leveraging industry trends and consumer insights to drive strategic decisions.
Proven ability to navigate the complexities of direct-to-consumer sales channels and marketplaces.Next steps
