Summary of Role
Anthesis, a rapidly growing global sustainability consultancy, is looking for a Consultant to support our growing team, which supports Anthesis’ global offerings by bringing innovative sustainability solutions to market.
As part of the team, your role will support client needs related to corporate and product sustainability. Focus areas made include materiality assessments and related sustainability strategy development, setting environmental and social goals/ targets, assessing hot spots and risks and opportunities throughout the value chain, benchmarking against industry best practices, conducting environmental inventories and lifecycle assessments (e.g., energy/GHG emissions/water/waste and plastics), educating suppliers on sustainability, supporting the development of circular business models and product sustainability, evaluating climate risk, performing ESG due diligence, and engaging in all aspects of sustainability reporting and/or improving performance informed by sustainability frameworks, raters and rankers (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB, THESIS, DJSI, Ecovadis, TCFD, and others), and more.
Your projects and clients will span across a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands, and require engagement with clients, and in some cases their suppliers, around the world.
You may work remotely from any North America/Canada location.
Key Responsibilities:
Support project managers in conducting primary and secondary research and analysis on sustainability leadership practices, and emerging issues and trends in a range of industry sectors utilizing a wide range of sources, including web searches, interviews and other methodologies
For small and/or common scope projects, design project scope, detailed budget and timeline, and prepare client work product with minimal supervision. May serve as client primary point of contact.
Project manage small projects or project subtasks on time and to budget
Support senior colleagues in the development of work plans, schedules and budgets for the delivery of client projects
Work on several projects at the same time, often with different clients on multiple workstreams, including CDP reporting and climate strategy development
Deliver tasks on time and within budget and assist project managers to ensure that projects perform against targets and deadlines
Be part of global project teams with colleagues in different offices and time zones
Perform data analysis and interpretation
Draft reports and presentations that convey key messages to a variety of stakeholders and inform strategic decision-making
Support proposal writing
Support client relationship management
Contribute to thought leadership
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject(s) + 4 years relevant experience, or Masters +2 years relevant experience
Demonstrable passion for, and commitment to improving sustainability
A willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively with others in a dynamic work environment
Excellent interpersonal skills for working with both internal and external clients
Clear and concise written communications
Experience working with data sets and demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and communicate findings
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
Exceptional organization and time management skills
Ideally 1-2 years of technical experience in one or more sustainability consulting areas, such as GHG inventories, LCAs, materiality assessments, sustainability reporting
Proven research and analytical skills (from academia or work experience), with proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to think and work independently, while also being an enthusiastic and proactive team player
Well-presented with a professional manner to act as a brand ambassador
