Job Description
Job title: Hygiene Manager
Department: Technical
Reports to: Head of Technical
Direct reports: Facilities Hygiene Team Leaders x2
Salary: A competitive salary is available plus great company benefits
Location: Based on site in Kettering, NN14 1 EG
Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
The Role:
As Hygiene Manager, you will consistently achieve and deliver the highest standards of hygiene and GMP standards, ensuring legal compliance to health, safety, and environment (HS&E) and food safety and quality (FSQ) regulations, whilst safeguarding our delicious products and enabling future growth of the site and the business. As the company hygiene expert, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the site housekeeping and hygiene processes and systems, including CIP audits and hygiene maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic
Set the Hygiene Strategy for the site as part of the wider Technical Strategy
Cascade objectives, aligned with strategy and execute through hygiene workstreams.
Financial
Budget ownership for facilities team, chemicals, consumables, and laundry.
Review and set budget annually ensuring spend is tracked and reviewed monthly.
Build strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring opportunities are explored to deliver cost savings and good value for money is achieved.
People
Conduct personal development reviews for direct reports.
Provide direct support for High Risk cleaning activities across 24 hours a day.
QMS / HACCP
Review and seek continuous improvement of the hygiene and housekeeping sections of the QMS, ensuring what we do is recorded accurately.
Key member of the HACCP team
BRCGS
Lead all relevant Hygiene clauses that relate to job roles and responsibilities to ensure successful accreditation.
System
Ownership of the Hygiene Management system for the complete site (Facilities, Factory and Warehouse)
Liaise with department heads to ensure that cleaning schedules are aligned with resources.
Ensure all equipment / process has a Cleaning Information Card and that Hygiene and Production staff are trained against them.
Validation of Cleaning Activities
Ownership of cleaning validation, setting a schedule for current equipment processes and plan for any new area or equipment.
Manage the Cleaning Schedule Risk Assessment across the site and follow up with relevant management to ensure compliance.
Ensure all cleaning activities are effective and validated.
KPI’s
Develop and maintain internal site-based hygiene KPI’s.
Trend and present the data at the senior management review.
Identify top loss areas and implement improvement action plans.
Review the KPI targets quarterly.
Internal Audits
Develop and maintain internal hygiene and fabrication audit programme.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly audits.
Laundry Management
Manage the laundry contractor and associated tenders / contracts.
Manage supplier performance, through KPI’s, to ensure Little Moons always receive best service.
Ensure audits are completed as required based on risk.
Audit and other non-conformances closed out on time.
Monthly review meeting
Pest Control / Management
Manage the pest control contractor and associated tenders / contracts.
Manage supplier performance, through KPI’s, to ensure Little Moons always receive best service.
Organise biologist audits, following up on non-conformance closure with relevant departments.
Ensure Risk Assessment are reviewed and up to date.
Monthly review meeting
Chemical Supplier
Manage the chemical supplier and associated tenders / contracts.
Manage supplier performance, through KPI’s, to ensure Little Moons always receive best service.
Completion of monthly chemical audits and timely close out of any non-conformances.
Strong relationships built with the chemical supplier ensuring support for any issues or incidents.
Management of costs to ensure pricing and dosage levels are effective and competitive.
Monthly review meeting.
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar Hygiene Manager role within FMCG
Experience of consistently delivering high hygiene standards across site
Robust experience working on internal and external audits
Experience creating, delivering and implementing Hygiene Strategy throughout the business
Passion for hygiene and technical safety
People management experience required
Experience working collaboratively with the Health, Safety & Environment teams to work in compliance with their policies and ensure risks are identified, assessed and controlled
The ability to influence and engage with all levels of the organisation
Approachable individual with a professional manner
Methodical in approach to tasks
Prompt to act and deliver results in a short time span
Self-motivated
An effective time manager with the ability to multi-task
Strong in building relationships and able to communicate at all levels
Support and develop a factory culture in their area in line with Little Moons values
