Job Description

About The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) and the Events Coordinator Internship

Have you heard about TAF? We’re a regional climate agency that invests in low-carbon solutions for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and helps scale them up for broad implementation. We are experienced leaders and collaborate with stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors who have ideas and opportunities for reducing carbon emissions. We advance the most promising concepts by investing, providing grants, influencing policies and running programs.

As the Events Coordinator supporting TAF’s Home Solar Accelerator, you’ll help strengthen community engagement around residential solar adoption. You’ll represent the program at events across the GTHA, identify and track relevant community groups and events, and translate on-the-ground insights into compelling stories and digital content.

This is a hands-on, public-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, communicating clearly, and contributing to climate action in a meaningful way.

What you’ll work on:

Community Engagement & Outreach Mapping

  • Build on TAF’s comprehensive map of community groups, events, and local networks relevant to residential solar adoption in the GTHA

  • Develop outreach tactics to strengthen relationships with priority communities.

  • Support the planning and execution of in‑person and virtual engagement activities.

Event Representation

  • Represent the Home Solar Accelerator at community events, workshops, and local gatherings across the GTHA.

  • Share program information with residents and community partners in accessible, engaging ways.

  • Capture insights from conversations to inform program design and communications.

Content Development & Storytelling from the Field

  • Translate community insights into compelling digital content that supports program awareness and education.

  • Highlight resident experiences, common questions, and local success stories.

  • Strengthen the program’s online presence through consistent, high‑quality storytelling.

Key details:

Compensation: $28/hour, plus financial support for wifi associated with work. A laptop will be provided.

Employment term:  full time (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) for approximately four months between May 4 – August 28. Flexible schedule and hours to be determined in consultation with your manager.

Location: Hybrid, with two days a week in TAF’s Toronto office (at Union Station). Some travel within the GTHA will be required (no vehicle required).

Perks:

  • Experience what it’s like to work in the climate sector, with a team of climate action professionals.

  • Enjoy socials, lunch & learns, training sessions and other staff-wide experiences.

  • Benefit from other hands-on learning and networking opportunities.

The kind of skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Studying or recently graduated from communications, marketing, public relations, community engagement, environmental studies, social sciences, or a related field.

  • Strong communication skills and ease engaging with community members in public settings.

  • Experience with community outreach, events, or public‑facing engagement (preferred but not required).

  • Ability to turn conversations and field insights into clear written content for blogs, social media, or newsletters.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools.

  • Strong organizational skills, including tracking outreach activities and managing multiple priorities.

  • Comfortable working independently in the field and collaboratively with a small team.

  • Interest in clean energy, climate action, or residential solar adoption in the GTHA.

Applying to intern at TAF:

We know that strong candidates bring a range of experiences that may not line up perfectly with every requirement. If this role excites you and you believe you’d be a great fit, we encourage you to apply.

Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply.

Our application process uses two short, job‑related questions in an anonymized platform so we can focus on your skills and approach. If you need accommodations, email jobs@taf.ca.

Please do not use AI to generate your responses. Our team reads every submission, and AI‑written answers tend to blend together, making it harder to get a sense of you. Using your own words gives you the fairest shot, and it also makes our reviewers (your potential future colleagues!) much happier.

We review anonymized responses first, then we look at résumés. Top candidates will be invited to interviews and a brief assessment. Everyone will hear back once the process concludes.

We will begin reviewing applications on a rolling basis starting March 26 and may close the posting early if we have enough qualified candidates, so we encourage applicants to apply early
