Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Head of Major Projects (Digital).
This post is a Fixed-Term contract until September 2025
The location of this role is National where we offer hybrid working, you will be based in one of our following offices and from home - Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, Bristol, Portsmouth (Fort Cumberland) and Cambridge.
Salary
National: £52,765 pro-rata
Greater London+: £54,390 pro-rata
Inner London: £57,714 pro-rata
What you will be doing
As our Head of Major Projects (Digital), you will support the Executive Team, IMT Director, and Head of Programmes in the delivery of Historic England’s Digital Strategy, which will close in March 2025, transitioning either into evaluation and business as usual, or into a new programme of work during 2025/26.
You will lead the successful and timely delivery of major projects and programmes, to budget and within the Public Value Framework. These include but are not limited to the replacement of Historic England’s planning application casework and grants management systems, and leadership of the engagement, and skills and data strands. You will build productive relationships and ensure that internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date and engaged with our projects.
This fast-paced role sits in the Programmes Department, which has responsibility for managing major programmes and projects of organisationally significant areas of work. Programmes sits in the Business Improvement Group – a dynamic team that ensures HE is an adaptable, fundable and sustainable organisation that delivers for heritage by facilitating joined up working, inspiring, challenging and equipping people, nurturing innovation and productivity, managing grant spend and growing income.
Who we are looking for
Ability to motivate and lead project teams where line management of team members is dispersed
Proven ability to coordinate diverse teams creating a culture of mutual respect with the ability to work together to achieve a common vision
Experience delivering digital and data projects and programmes
Experience of programme closure, including workforce planning, evaluation, communications, and transition to business as usual
Governance - ability to approach leadership of a portfolio of projects and programmes that have their own discreet governance arrangements.
