Job Description

Overview 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for systems and accounting to join a dynamic and highly motivated team to continue the great work started by our Systems Accountant as well as other high-profile projects that will continue to build the groundwork for the Foundation’s financial systems. 

You will be fully involved in all aspects of designing, developing and implementing our increasingly sophisticated financial processing and reporting systems. This will include upgrading from Access Dimensions to Access Financials, supporting with the testing, training and migration of data; as well as the management of financial functionality we hold on our organisation’s CRM – Salesforce.  Also, there will be the opportunity to work with other software like Tableau and Office 365 products. 

Although you’ll work very closely with the Systems Manager, you’ll also interface with users at all levels across the organisation as you design and build the system tools while providing the training and support that they need. We will expect you to use all your imagination, innovation and flair, and in return we’ll offer you plenty of freedom to make your own choices and deliver impactful change.

Job description - The opportunity 

Job title: Systems Accountant (Maternity Cover) 

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 

Contract type: Fixed term (1 year) – maternity cover

Reporting to: Systems Manager

You will be joining the Business System team at an exciting time as they develop best-in-class ways of working. Key responsibilities: 

  • Support with the completion of the upgrade and migration from Access Dimensions to Access Financials: 

    • Finalise a migration plan – which learns from issues raised in testing, has the completion of relevant checks and updates in the appropriate sequence. 

    • Support data reconciliation work for functionality moving to Salesforce. 

    • Completion of user acceptance testing for all areas (e.g. user profiles, VAT processes & invoice management. 

    • Implement training and comms plans. 

    • Go live planning and support. 

  • Explore new features and applications that will improve our finance systems and in turn benefit our finance team and other end users. 

  • Work with the Systems Manager and the Systems team, internal teams and external consultants and vendors to: 

    • Design and configure all aspects of financial and operational data capture, management, processing, workflows and reporting in the Foundation’s finance systems (Access Dimensions/Access Financials and Salesforce.org), together with other integrated apps. 

    • Contribute to the design and creation of Foundation-wide business intelligence. 

    • Maintain and develop the interfaces between systems holding financial information. 

  • Support the Systems and Finance Team by: 

    • Ensuring that all systems and processes are developed with appropriate and robust controls. 

    • Controlling the integrity of the systems, interfaces and data. 

    • Providing high quality support of all systems holding financial processes. 

    • General administration of finance systems for both Finance and the wider organisation. 

    • Keeping track of ongoing system updates and communicate benefits to end users. 

  • Lead on key project work for our finance systems planned for 2023/24 e.g.: 

    • Complete testing and training sessions for our system upgrades. 

    • Prepare in collaboration and execute a go-live plan for our system upgrade. 

    • Review processes relating to our Purchase Invoice Register. 

    • Consult on data reconciliation improvements and data cleansing activities. 

    • Coordinate and support the setup of Single Sign-On for the finance system. 

    • Update our 360 giving data provision process. 

  • Proactively look for cross organisational opportunities for system improvement, process automation, efficiency gains and business intelligence enhancements. 

  • Provide a consistent and approachable point of contact for users and other stakeholders. 

  • Manage the systems on a day-to-day basis, including managing users, profiles, permissions etc. 

  • Devise and provide appropriate one-off and on-going training to users. 

  • Devise and create system and end-user documentation. 

 

Person Specification - What we’re looking for 

Skills and experience: 

  • Good general experience of one or more finance systems (Essential) 

  • Designing and creating financial reports using any software package or Excel (Essential) 

  • Process design and automation (Essential) 

  • Experience in leading changes in and upgrades of financials systems (Essential) 

  • Non-financial reporting/business intelligence (Desirable) 

Knowledge and qualifications: 

  • Advanced Excel (Essential) 

  • Relevant financial qualification (Desirable) 

  • Knowledge of Access financial products and financial functionality built in Salesforce.org (Desirable) 

Abilities and attributes:
