Job Description

ABOUT US:

At Founders Pledge, our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good. Since launching in 2015, we’ve raised over $10 billion for the most impactful social causes. We offer the simplest path to impact for successful entrepreneurs, providing end-to-end giving infrastructure, pioneering research, and access to a worldwide network of experts. In other words, we help tech leaders become strategic philanthropists. Our 2000+ members include the people behind industry-leading companies such as Airbnb, UiPath, Dropbox, Skype, Spotify, and Uber.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re now looking for a People Advisor to join our small, ambitious People team! Our team enables everyone at Founders Pledge to achieve their potential, ensuring we move as many funds as possible to high-impact causes worldwide. You’ll initially report to Louise, our Interim Head of People (UK-based) until Sally, our Senior Talent & People Partner (also based in the UK) returns from maternity leave in 2026. You’ll be a People ‘generalist’ and systems and data wizz. You’ll love both people operations and people advisory work, and don’t mind dipping into recruitment every now and then. You’ll own the efficient working of our benefits, payroll inputs and systems, ensuring we provide a brilliant employee experience.

There’s always a lot going on at Founders Pledge, for example, in the next year we’re introducing a revised compensation approach, evolving a number of our staff benefits, changing a number of benefit providers, and introducing a new approach to learning and development. You’ll be a part of some of these projects and have plenty of opportunities to learn, develop and grow as part of a dedicated, global People team, at a nonprofit startup.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • The smooth working of the ‘HR lifecycle’ - from contracting to exit.

  • Maintaining and updating our HR systems, HR administration and compliance. This will include Personio, our HRIS and all documentation.

  • Working on international payroll inputs for the UK, US, Germany and other jurisdictions.

  • Managing a brilliant onboarding experience for new joiners, including creating offer letters/contracts and managing Right to Work checks. You’ll work closely with our IT & Data Admin to make sure new joiners have all of the equipment that they need. You’ll also offboard staff at the end of their employment.

  • Being the first point of contact for HR queries and issues for our US-based staff, and for some issues, problem solving for our global team.

  • Identifying ways to streamline and improve all of our people-related processes to give applicants, new joiners and current team members a better employee and candidate experience.

  • Preparing quarterly reports on employee engagement, recruitment, performance, diversity and other metrics, showing insights where possible.

  • Looking after end-to-end talent acquisition for some roles. This will not be the initial focus of your role, but likely will be an increased focus from October 2024 onwards, and will include posting and promoting job adverts, conducting screening calls, scheduling interviews, LinkedIn outreach and building passive talent pools.

  • Ad-hoc projects that support the engagement and performance of Founders Pledge, including supporting performance cycles, learning and development processes and supporting our employee engagement initiatives.

ABOUT YOU:

First and foremost, you’ll be excited to bring your generalist HR knowledge to a broad people operations and people advisory role. Ensuring we’re a well oiled machine, that our systems and people operations work seamlessly, will be your passion. You’ll have a specific understanding of US HR and benefits context and perhaps have been in a US organisation with an international reach, so understand organisations who work globally.

You’ll have:

  • A general understanding of the HR lifecycle from a US perspective.

  • Experience working with ‘people systems’, whether that’s HR Information Systems, Applicant Tracking Systems or performance management systems.

  • Advisory experience - working with team members to problem solve issues, or advising managers on performance, compensation and learning and development topics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Confidence using GSuite/MS Office and Slack (we LOVE Slack).

  • Understanding of payroll processes and experience in the US pay and benefits environment.

  • Great attention to detail.

  • Eager to learn, with a growth mindset.

Nice to haves (but not essential):

  • Experience working remotely - you can show how you’ve been successful working remotely in the past, or at minimum we want to understand how you could be.

  • A HR or related qualification.

  • Previous experience working in recruitment would be an advantage.

WHY WORK WITH US?

You can find more about the benefits we offer here, but what makes us truly special is both our mission and our people. We’re a diverse team, from both charitable and commercial backgrounds, who believe that amazing things can happen when we tackle problems together. We offer a flat structure and an opportunity to help shape the future of philanthropy.

To apply for this role, you’ll need to be based in the USA on an EST timezone. This role is remote so all you'll need is a great home wifi connection and we’ll provide you with everything else you need to be successful in your role.

We have approx. 25 staff in the US who either work remotely or from our small office in San Francisco. We bring the entire FP team (of 70) together for a global offsite once per year (usually in the UK) and the People team will also meet once per year to work together, usually in the US.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Founders Pledge. We seek people with different strengths, experiences and backgrounds, who share our drive to understand and solve complex social challenges. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Finding solutions to the world’s most pressing problems requires different perspectives and unique ways of thinking and we are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can do their best work.
