As we grow, we are now seeking individuals with a few years of experience, to join as Consultants on track to progress towards the Manager role. If you have experience in another consultancy or in a project role within public services and you love exploring challenging problems, this is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career in public service consulting.
About the role
As a Consultant in our team you will have the opportunity to build your experience through projects across all aspects of our consulting business (strategy, transformation and digital), with a view to specialising as you progress through the company. Working closely and iteratively with senior colleagues, you will take ownership of designing the approach and delivering outcomes on projects or on workstreams within larger projects. You will work with clients day-to-day, both collaboratively in teams and presenting to senior stakeholders, using your knowledge and experience to deliver high quality and creative solutions. You will also play a role in the growth and development of The PSC, with opportunities to contribute to internal initiatives and develop your commercial skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
Understand and analyse the critical issues underlying our clients’ biggest challenges
Generate insightful and evidence-based recommendations
Develop plans which translate these recommendations into practice
Support implementation and delivery of lasting change
Taking responsibility for project management and coordination
Managing the quality control process on projects to ensure outputs are accurate and robust
Leading on day-to-day client communications, always ensuring clients understand our insights and rationale.
Contributing to continuous improvement of our consulting approach and ways of working.
Coaching and supporting junior team members.
Contributing to proposals and tender responses, including leading the coordination and bringing together the right team to problem-solve and design these.
About You
We are looking for people with between 3-7 years’ experience in a relevant role, likely to be either within the public services industry or consulting/professional services. We’re looking for candidates who share our intellectual curiosity, passion, enthusiasm and dedication to solving the knotty problems required to improve public services. In addition, you need to be able to demonstrate:
Project delivery experience, with evidence of successfully owning the creation of professional, high quality deliverables high quality deliverables (e.g. analyses, reports, presentations, workshops)
Problem solving skills and creative thinking ability
Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate with a wide range of people and bring them on a journey of change
Ability to multi-task, work to deadlines and manage own time effectively.
The ability to communicate directly and confidently to internal and external stakeholders in both verbal and written form, with the ability to tailor your approach based on the audience and influence appropriately
A proactive, self-motivated, and reliable approach
Resilience and adaptability
Genuine interest in improving public services for the benefit of users and taxpayers.
