Project Description
The Catapult’s Sustainable Earth strategy aims to drive the uptake of space-derived data and services by non-space organisations, where doing so creates a positive change. The SE strategy spans across three interventions – Emissions Reduction, Nature Restoration and Space Data Building Blocks. In each of these interventions exist complex markets with the potential of adopting space technologies. This SPIN placement will be to investigate markets relevant to the Sustainable Earth Strategy to identify those market opportunities and innovation gaps with the most impact and economic growth potential for the interventions to pursue.
Over the 8 weeks, we hope you will develop your skills and understanding in:
Practical experience in market analysis of emerging markets with a high degree of innovation.
Working knowledge of economic analysis and scenario analysis specific to the sustainability sector.
Understanding of space technology applied to sustainability.
Collaborative Working
Independent thinking.
Strategic thinking.
Communication skills, both written and verbal to a range of colleagues both technical and strategic.
The successful applicant will have the following skills:
Academic requirements: BA/MA in Business, Consulting, business Strategy, Economics or similar
Skills requirement: Expertise in industry and market research, data synthesis and analysis, economic and trend analysis, communication and presentation)
Desirable requirements: a demonstrated interest in sustainability and/or the environment, an interest in applied space data applications.
Process details:
8 weeks minimum fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate
5 days holiday to be taken during the placement
