Job Description

About the Centre for Public Impact (CPI)

CPI is a not-for-profit founded by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Believing that governments can and want to do better for people, we work side-by-side with governments — and all those who help them — to reimagine government, and turn ideas into action, to bring about better outcomes for everyone.

Our mission is to help governments achieve public impact, i.e. better outcomes for citizens. We are only four years old but already our global footprint is expansive and we partner with some of the biggest names in government, academia and public sector innovation in the world.

Our values:

  • courageous - we have the courage to speak the truth, to challenge without fear and tackle the difficult questions

  • respectful - we respect differences, we seek to understand them and we look out for one another

  • optimistic - we are positive about what we and governments can do for our societies

  • inclusive - we are non-partisan, we work together and seek ideas and solutions across the divides

We value diversity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply. This includes candidates that have previously found it hard to be considered for other positions on the basis of their qualifications, disabilities, personal background or life events. If you would like to apply for the position but see a barrier to joining us, please do apply and we will work with you to find a solution.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Senior Programme Associate in the CPI India team, you’ll work as part of a diverse team with extensive experience in consulting, public policy and social impact, and will be responsible for delivering programmes of work with governments and their partners. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Leading discrete projects and/or owns workstreams of larger projects and developing high quality deliverables.

  • Driving analytical and intellectual depth in work products and proactively sharing our work with broader CPI teams.

  • Supporting business development activities including developing presentations and proposals.

  • Identifying and proactively proposing ideas around how we can work together more effectively as a team.

The Senior Programme Associate should have these skills and qualities:

  • Be passionate about CPI’s vision for reimagining government and have a solid understanding of how government works.

  • 4+ years’ experience in social impact consulting and public sector; experience in grassroot organisations and not-for-profit roles will be an added benefit.

  • Have excellent written and interpersonal skills, including feeling confident building new relationships.

  • Have strong organisational skills, experience with balancing competing priorities, and be willing to take initiative.

  • Be comfortable contributing to and leading research projects, running programmes, as well as projects which incorporate both research and programmatic elements (which most do!)

  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and managing work and timelines with limited supervision.

  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and the complexity of our work, where anything is possible but not always known in advance.

  • High levels of digital literacy, particularly across Google and MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) applications

If applying from outside India, you should ensure that you meet the necessary visa and work permit requirements. We are unable to act as a sponsor or provide visa support.

We are using Applied to debias our hiring process and ensure that we are shortlisting candidates based on their skills. Your application will be anonymised for review. Although we ask for your CV, it will not be looked at until further down the process.
