Job Title: Packaging Development Manager

Department: Marketing, Sustainability & Innovation

Location: Primarily based at our office/factory in Park Royal (London), with days in our Farringdon office & visits to suppliers

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

The Role:

We are looking for a creative and experienced Packaging Development Manager to join our team and drive packaging innovation from concept to launch. If you're a materials and print fanatic, constantly enhancing your expertise and collaborating with suppliers to achieve the best results, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for packaging formats, materials, and sustainability strategies, guiding internal teams and external partners 

  • Inspire the organization with innovative and sustainable packaging solutions including material, structure and finish.  

  • Be passionate about all things packaging in trends and in the marketplace, work with suppliers to design inspiring packaging and print solutions to project briefs 

  •  Proactively feed into the innovation pipeline and sustainability roadmap for both new and existing products 

  • Lead packaging validation trials and transit tests for new and existing packaging development. 

  • Define QAS 

  •  Provide a hand-over to Operations ahead of 1st production 

  • Understand our packaging; know the technical properties and functionality of the packaging materials and packing process used, ensuring they are fit for purpose, and as sustainable as possible 

  • Be the champion for packaging sustainability. Own and drive the roadmap to deliver near and long term targets in Little Moons Packaging Sustainability Standards 

  • Manage packaging specifications. Support investigation and resolution of non-conformances and packaging quality complaints 

  • Support feasibility assessments for the project portfolio, driving packaging process expertise.  

  • From trials, proactively flag opportunities in sustainability, cost optimisation and operations within packaging 

  • Lead and support collaborative supplier relationships to ensure the best innovations are brought to our business and utilised effectively in packaging development 

  • Keep on the pulse of what’s new, relevant, and emerging in packaging (including an awareness of legislation and regulations), using this insight to answer project briefs 

  • Manage packaging data for all finished goods formats, supporting with reporting and customer submissions 

  • Contribute to the Brighter Future Sustainability Strategy and company's linked OKRs. Support your function  to contribute too 

Essential Requirements: 

  • Strong and proven industry experience in a packaging development and/or packaging technical manager role. Having experience in both is preferred  

  • Experience of delivering packaging solutions in the food industry  

  • Proven project management skills  

  • Flair for innovation and creativity 

  • Passion for sustainability  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Experience working within brand guidelines  

  • A can-do self-starter attitude  

  • Excited about the prospect of working in an agile and entrepreneurial scaling business
