Job Description

At ClearSpace, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable.

Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations. Today ClearSpace has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations. From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across Europe and the US, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.

Motivated to join us and make a difference beyond earth? We are currently looking for a SPINtern to join us to support the spacecraft capture mechanism automated testing.

 Project Description:

In this position you will get to do co-engineering in a small, fast-moving, agile team to find an ideal testing solution. Key tasks include:

  • Delta design of a heritage joint actuator test rig to improve position sensing accuracy.

  • Procurement and Assembly of the Test Rig.

  • Creation of a joint actuator test procedure to enable measurement of key joint actuator metrics.

  • Setup of software to automate joint tests and provide data gathering capabilities.

  • Setup of automated data post-processing to enable rapid assessment of joint metrics.

  • The project will involve hands on experience with flight representative spacecraft mechanisms, providing experience of mechanical, electrical and software fields.
