Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Officer

Location: Home-working (with occasional time in London office – EC4A)

Accountable to: Senior Director of People and Talent

Salary: £34,000 - £39,000 (FTE)

Contract: Permanent; 1- 2 days per week 

As part of our dynamic People and Talent team, the Payroll and Benefits Officer will focus on delivery of the day-to-day activities of Big Society Capital’s payroll. You will ensure quality of service and operational performance by working within our documented processes and metrics. We are seeking a results-oriented payroll professional with an affinity for data accuracy and process improvement, a keen attention to detail, and an ambition to support a collaborative and inclusive team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

·         All employee related payroll and benefits administration 

·         Provide first-line support for payroll/benefits queries from BSC staff

·         Ensure delivery of monthly, one-off and year-end services in line with Service Level Agreements that are in place with outsourced providers

·         Maintain all relevant payroll and benefits information within BSC’s core systems.

·         Deliver payroll support in line with UK legislation and Company Control & Risk Framework                     

·         Payroll data collection in line with monthly checklist and employees who are joining, leaving or taking family leave etc

·         Support preparation of six-monthly payroll for non-executive directors

·         Validation of data to ensure meets outsourced processor’s requirements

·         Submission of data to payroll outsourced processor  in line with payroll calendar

·         Complete checking and reconciliations of reports generated by outsourced processor and follow up queries as required

·         Prepare and distribute payroll reports in line with BSC’s approval and sign-off process

·         Working within defined processes and deadlines, ensure all payments are successfully managed in an accurate and timely manner. Act as a bridge between payroll and benefits providers, including monthly pension submissions and healthcare deductions.

·         Support annual renewal process for key employee benefits

·         Support new joiners with sign-up process for key employee benefits (Pension, Healthcare, Childcare Vouchers)

·         Support Finance team with payroll enquiries related to general ledger payroll costs

·         Build excellent relationships with internal and external parties

 

Person Profile

 

Experience

·         Payroll oversight and support experience in a business / organisation with at least 100 employees.

·         Proven experience of working in conjunction with outsourced payroll processor

·         Proven experience of process improvement

·         Ability to communicate and deliver a high-quality service in a client-centred manner

·         Hunger for continued learning and development

·         Exemplary project and time-management skills - you’re able to navigate conflicting priorities independently, set boundaries, manage expectations and ask for help when you need it.

·         Ability to prioritise workload, managing details without losing sight of the bigger picture

·         Comfortable using relevant software (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

·         Ability to work closely as part of a team with very good interpersonal skills

·         Excellent attention to detail – analytical and numerical, demonstrated by your thoroughness and accuracy in organising and delivering on tasks
