We were the first company globally to deliver a vaccine using a drone under a commercial contract. Since then, we've expanded globally, transforming the health supply chain with drone logistics operations in four countries.

About you:

We are looking for an enthusiastic aviation professional who is passionate about utilising cutting-edge technology to influence the future of aviation. You will have extensive experience in manned aircraft and/or remotely piloted aircraft operations, procedure development, aviation safety management and training strategy development.

You will hold a pass in the CASA IREX - Instrument Rating Examination and possess a high level of understanding of CASA aviation legislation to assist with the advancement of Swoop Aero’s Australian Beyond Visual Line of Sight waiver.

Your excellent leadership skills will enable you to mentor a team of ambitious aviation professionals and cultivate a positive safety culture which will benefit Swoop Aero and our partners alike. Beyond aviation and technical skills, you will bring a collaborative method of working and a proven track record of executing complex initiatives and projects on time.  

About the role: 

As Swoop Aero’s Chief Remote Pilot, you will be working with both our operational and regulatory teams to tackle the logistical and regulatory challenges related to establishing drone logistics operations. You will be responsible for maintaining Swoop Aero’s flight operations procedures and record keeping, reviewing and updating the company operations manual/SOP’s in order to ensure compliance with CASA, FAA and other relevant regulatory bodies. 

Reporting to the COO you will provide operations insights which will contribute to Swoop Aero’s aviation strategy and support ongoing, sustainable business growth. In addition, you’ll work closely with our Regulatory team and utilise your aviation expertise to provide assistance in obtaining CASA, FAA and other regulatory approvals. 

As this is a technical role we have some necessary experience: 

• Hold current:

  • Remote Pilot License (RePL)

  • CASA IREX

  • PPL/CPL (preferred, not required)

  • Instructor rating (preferred, not required)

  • Principles and Methods of Instruction or Cert 4 in training and assessing (preferred, not required)

• Significant experience (5+ years) in manned aircraft and/or remotely piloted aircraft flight operations.

• Experience managing aviation operations

• Experience in training, and qualifications management 

• Experience in ensuring adherence to policy and procedures

• High level of understanding of aviation legislation, inclusive of domestic and international aviation regulations.
