Job Description

Project Description:

The space industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries in the UK. Every day, scientists and innovators are discovering new ways to use space technology to improve people’s lives. The SPINtern program provides an opportunity for students to get involved in this exciting industry and learn from some of the best minds in the business.

The Impact and Evaluation team is tasked with setting up a system to track the impact of the SPINtern programme. Previously, a SPINtern was assigned to join the team to assess the impact that the programme had on previous graduates' professional choices and trajectories. The main challenge faced during this evaluation was on data collection as many of the previous SPINterns could not be traced or did not engage during the data collection process. The vision of the programme is to have a system in which the SPINTerns’ data can be stored and easily accessed when needed in addition to engaging with alumni during programme evaluations. This will be achieved by:

  • Planning, designing, and piloting data collection tools and management system for the programme.

  • Establishing and coordinating plans for collection and analysis of data.

  • Collating available SPINtern data, conducting data verification and quality control in order to build a SPINtern alumni database to help track career trajectories.

  • Fostering an active alumni network that will support engagement between UK Space Agency and the SPINtern alumni base.

    Project Output

The project will provide the following:

  • Design of a data management system to help in tracking and engaging alumni of the SPINtern programme.

  • An engagement plan to help maintain an active alumni network.

  • Trial of the data management system with the available contacts from previous cohorts and the 2024 cohort.

  • Synthesis and analysis of available data collected through surveys and recorded in the monitoring logframe.

How we work:

We strive to create a high trust environment that enables team members to bring their whole selves to work – this helps to create the foundations of an innovation culture. Our shared values are critical to this:

  • We care - for our people, our partners, and our planet

  • We connect - and engage with people and ideas

  • We learn - and grow, as people and as an industry

Underpinning this is our belief in great teams, our combined efforts will always deliver outcomes beyond that of any individual providing we are honest through debate, experiment and reflect, and create shared resolutions in support of our purpose. Live these values, work to our principles, take ownership to deliver, and we are certain you will thrive with us.

This job description set outs the skills and experience we believe are needed to be able to do this job but, research also tells us women are much more likely than men to take this list of requirements as absolute and self-select out of the process. If you think you can deliver this role then we want to hear from you, regardless of the boxes you didn’t tick.
