About the position:

We are looking for a versatile Software Engineer to join our team and help build our BlueMark IQ software platform. You’ll work closely with BlueMark’s product leads, outsourced engineers, and designers to shape the product vision while also managing aspects of technical implementation, prototyping, and hands-on development. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Contributing hands-on to development as a Full Stack software engineer as part of an engineering team.

  • Coordinating with the product team to support translation of the product vision and roadmap into a technical roadmap.

  • Working closely with engineering teams to define requirements, evaluate feasibility, and ensure technical alignment.

  • Helping to define system behavior, workflows, and user experiences through close collaboration with product and design.

  • Working with the product team to gather user insights, analyze data, and turn feedback into well-scoped product improvements.

  • Supporting product planning, prioritization, and release processes with a focus on quality and iteration speed.

  • Designing and implementing efficient internal- and customer-focused operational processes to support the product as it scales.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in software engineering as a full-stack developer

  • Production experience writing and maintaining Javascript applications using modern web frameworks (e.g. NodeJS, ReactJS)

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (e.g. EC2, Lightsail, networking)

  • Proficiency in both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) database systems, including modeling, performance tuning, and optimization.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) for automated testing and deployment

  • Experience in writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests

  • Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms, and an ability to apply them to solve real-world problems efficiently.

  • Understanding of common web security vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10) and best practices for securing web applications, APIs, and data.

  • Understanding of financial services

  • Mission-driven and/or understanding/interest in sustainable finance and impact investing is a plus

  • Comfort working in early-stage environments (building a product from 0 to 1)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and leadership

  • Self-motivated; excited to be our first in-house engineer with some support from outsourced developers and a fractional CTO but no internal engineering team.
