The role
A Senior Consultant at BOP is responsible for winning and delivering projects across our business areas. They will often be the intellectual lead on projects, continuing our reputation for high quality and robust analysis. For this role, we are looking for a candidate who has demonstrable professional experience winning and delivering projects related to placemaking and cultural master planning - our work on both major regeneration schemes and development of new cultural projects, attractions, and cultural destinations.
Illustrative day in the life of a Senior Consultant at BOP
30min morning team meeting with the senior staff
45 min business development call with a client overseas to discuss potential work over the coming months
2-3 hours of report writing
1-hour internal project team meeting to review progress, discuss approach, client comms and next steps
1hr reviewing an invitation to tender that has been received and mapping out an initial budget for the work
Day-to-day the role can be quite varied with some dedicated entirely to project work, some onsite with clients and others focused on business development.
As a Senior Consultant you will be expected to:
Be the intellectual lead on projects and manage their successful delivery
Win work, both by responding to tenders and in generating non tendered opportunities.
Provide line management support to 1-3 staff members and contribute to the development of the company as part of the senior team.
Project manage contracts, working closely with Project Directors, and continuing our reputation for high quality while maintaining profitable projects.
Client management, including ensuring our clients are engaged in the consultancy process.
Contribute to the tendering process (i.e. to bid writing and pitch preparations).
Play a key part in (i) the continuous improvement and development of our existing methods; and (ii) the development of innovative ideas for new projects/ideas/markets.
The role will require some travel.
You will also be expected to undertake any reasonable duties as required by the Directors, for instance but not exclusively: project administration, contribute or have responsibilities in communications and marketing activities, or wider operational activities (e.g. knowledge management, cross-company projects etc.).
What we are looking for
Key requirements
6+ years’ work experience at a senior level – either in a consultancy business or cultural institution, urban design, property development or a placemaking agency.
Strong report writing skills, especially using PowerPoint. You should be able to write crisp business English and translate findings into engaging, client-focused slides.
Experience in one or more of the following:
i) developing feasibility and option studies
ii) developing market and demand appraisals for cultural/commercial
organisations
iii) business planning and business development
iv) cultural regeneration and placemaking
v) planning policy.
High level analytical skills. You should have exceptional critical reasoning skills.
Desirable requirements
Languages: languages other than English are desirable, particularly Mandarin, Arabic, or Spanish
Experience of leading/ managing cultural regeneration or capital development in property development/retail.
An established personal network within the cultural/property development/urban design sector

Details
You will report to a Director.
Salary range of £50 – 60,000 pa plus bonus, depending on experience
This role is offered on a full-time (37.5hrs pw) or 0.8 FTE (30hrs pw).
25 days holiday (including 5 days during the Christmas closure period)
We are open to flexible working arrangements. Working remotely is possible although we require fortnightly on-site presence (London) during your probationary period, and periodic attendance afterwards. The frequency of this will be agreed upon with your Line Manager.
BOP operates a shared equity scheme for senior employees.
Start date - as soon as possible.
