Overall Purpose of the role
You will be responsible for delivery of communication activity related to the Digital Accelerator Programme and the Digital Cultural Network. In addition, you will be expected to contribute operationally to reputation management and reactive situations as required.
Main day to day responsibilities
Your day-to-day work will be split between two teams at Arts Council England, the Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Digital Accelerator Programme and the Digital Culture Network.
As part of the Digital Accelerator Programme (DAP) team you will;
· Support the Programme Manager to deliver a communications strategy incorporating social, digital and media components.
· Work with programme partners, Lapine Group, to improve the news pages of the Digital Accelerator Programme website and provide stories for it on an ongoing basis
· Build upon our collection of case studies to demonstrate the impact of the programme internally and externally on the DAP website.
· Work with the Programme and Learning Managers to implement new ways of sharing learning and insight from the programme
· Improve and maintain the Digital Accelerator Programme intranet page.
· Work with Programme Manager to ensure that Bloomberg Philanthropies are provided with the stories they need for their own internal communications.
· Lead on UK input to the Digital Accelerator Programme LinkedIn group
As part of the Digital Culture Network (DCN) team you will;
· Work closely to support the Senior Manager Programme to deliver an impactful communications strategy.
· Manage and deliver the Digital Culture Network social media presence including content creation, posting, reviewing performance and maintaining the social media strategy.
· Support the Project Co-ordinator and Events Co-ordinator to develop email marketing communications on an ongoing basis including sitting on the steering group for the newsletter.
· Work with the Project Manager and Events Co-ordinator to provide communications support around major projects including Digital Culture Awards.
· Work closely with internal stakeholders, including our national and area communications teams, to ensure communications are joined up and achieve maximum reach and impact.
· Explore and execute (where relevant) other marketing opportunities for the DCN, including PR/media, partnership campaigns and paid advertising.
As part of this work on both these programmes you will;
· Provide creative ideas in the implementation of the projects you work on.
· Carry out hands-on editorial work including drafting content or various channels and audiences.
· Use your technical skills to manage the content of our digital channels: sourcing and writing online news stories and case studies, proofing copy, image editing, statistical reporting, commissioning external digital and print suppliers and ensuring that work is completed on time, to the highest standards, and on budget.
· You will contribute to a positive working culture in the organisation by taking a proactive approach to learning, responding to change, inclusive practice, and environmental responsibility.

Key relationships
You will work closely with colleagues both within in the Digital Accelerator Programme and the Digital Culture Network and across the organisation to make sure that the projects you work are delivered to the highest standard. As part of you work with the Digital Accelerator Programme you will also work with arts and cultural organisations and programme partners at Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Lapine Group.
What do I need to bring to the role?
Essential (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
You will be a talented writer, you may come from a journalistic or communications background and will have track record in producing content for both digital and traditional platforms. Experience of commissioning work from external organisations and agencies would be desirable.
You will be highly organised and capable of working with a high level of attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple priorities and exercise effective judgement when managing conflicting tasks.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills – speaking, listening and in writing – and the ability to communicate in a confident and engaging manner and able to influence individuals over whom there is no formal line-management relationship. You will have skills and experience in the ability to network, develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
You will have the ability to absorb, analyse and present complex data and information in a clear and straightforward way, as well as identify and action insights and learnings. You will understand the importance of work being delivered on time and to a high standard.
You will have experience of working with web and social media tools including content management systems, popular social media platforms and their native analytic tools, as well as third-party analytic tools.
You will have a good understanding of the Arts Council’s duty as a public body under current diversity legislation, the current diversity agenda and its relationship to arts and culture.

You will have a creative approach to content and strong editorial experience and will actively contribute to ensuring the Arts Council becomes an imaginative publisher of content to support its overall communications strategy.
You will have experience or working with the media, both proactively and reactively.
