Job Description
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Grants Manager, you will help manage the Foundation’s Open Grants Programme. This will include taking, or sharing, responsibility for the Small Grants Programme portfolio. You may also be required to support grant-making in other parts of the portfolio as required, as well as support development of new funds.
Main Responsibilities
Grant-Making
Assessing grant applications for Small Grant Programmes, and generating supporting papers
Processing declinations following assessment meetings
Requesting additional information from applicants prior to and/or post assessment meeting and co-ordinating responses
Processing returned Terms and Conditions following grant awards
Maintaining accurate records on the Gifts Online database
Sending grant offer letters
Monitoring and Learning
Post-award grant monitoring including processing and reviewing reports and accounts, as well as relationship-based monitoring.
Working alongside the Clothworkers’ Company finance department to provide grant approval and payment information
Attending meetings with relevant stakeholders, conferences, and other events, and represent The Clothworkers’ Foundation externally as required
Performing such other tasks as may reasonably be required
Supporting Organisational Development
Contributing to Grants Team reflection and learning to identify and implement improvement in our processes, develop new funds, and review the progress of our grant-making strategy
Performing other tasks as may be required, including authoring papers for the Board or Committees
Collaborating with colleagues across the Clothworkers’ Company, including attendance at some Company events.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
At least one year’s experience working in a Grants Officer or similar role
Understanding and experience of the grant-making process
Experience of working as part of a team and contributing to achieving team goals and decisions
Desirable
Experience in developing new funds and supporting the process of origination
Experience in capital grant-making
Experience in relationship-based grant management
Skills
Essential
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a range of people from different backgrounds
Excellent attention to detail
IT proficiency in MS Office applications and familiarity with CRM software
Desirable
Experienced in using the Blackbaud Grant Making (GIFTS) CRM
