Social Media Coordinator

The B Corp Movement

The B Corp community is a global movement of businesses who provide leadership by demonstrating their commitments to people and planet and create examples of success for others to follow. There are now over 4,000 B Corps in over 75 countries and covering 150 sectors, including Patagonia, The Body Shop, Kickstarter, innocent and Ella’s Kitchen.

B Lab 

B Lab was created in 2006 with the mission to inspire and enable people to use business as a force for good. There are B Labs across the globe and B Lab UK is a charity that launched in 2015. Our purpose is to redefine success in business through building a community of engaged businesses, raising awareness of the B Corp movement and championing change in the UK economy. The B Lab UK team is small, friendly, hard-working and committed to changing how business operates.

The purpose of this role

The Social Media Coordinator will be a compelling communicator and storyteller with expertise in social media channels and tools and a passion for using the power of business to transform the world. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in raising awareness about the B Corp movement in the UK. This motivated and passionate individual will create and deploy content across all B Corp UK/B Lab UK social media channels to inspire business as a force for good and raise awareness about stakeholder governance models, while developing new, creative tactics to engage with the wider public audience.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement creative and engaging social media campaigns to support our priority programs, products, topics, events, and partnerships, and capitalise on the innovation opportunities specific to each platform

  • Collaborate with the B Lab UK team and key stakeholders within the Global Network to ensure alignment on content themes and priorities 

  • Monitor and update the social content calendar to enable advance planning and ensure synergy with top level content themes

  • Create and manage a regular reporting structure that enables us to identify clear improvements and optimisations based on data on social media performance, engagement, growth, campaign metrics, etc

  • Create social media toolkits to distribute to the B Corp community and other networks and encourage participation in campaigns 

  • Design assets, write copy and schedule posts which align with the marketing team’s objectives and content strategy 

  • Daily engagement with posts and messages to build meaningful connections on our platforms and inspire our online community to take action 

  • Ongoing monitoring of relevant community, partner and news channels, to ensure we are engaging with the key issues of the day

  • When required, set up, monitor and optimise paid social campaigns 

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years experience working in a social media role - or comparable lived experience plus the core competencies required for the role

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills 

  • Demonstrated success managing multiple social media platforms and an in-depth knowledge of the platform functionality on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter 

  • Strong administrative skills with an eye for organisation and prioritisation

  • Ability to juggle short deadlines, multiple projects and work with global counterparts 

  • Familiarity with these (or comparable) platforms: G Suite, Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Slack and Zoom 

  • A strong eye for design and experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) or Canva 

Desirable

  • A dedicated interest or previous professional experience working with a purpose-driven organisation, campaign or project

Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager

Salary & Benefits:

  • £30,000 per annum, pro rata [Full time is 40 hours per week]
