Job Description

The Head of Product Research and Innovation plays a pivotal role in driving PRI strategic initiatives by leading and overseeing research and development efforts. This position involves shaping the product roadmap through a deep understanding of market trends, signatory needs, and emerging technologies.

The role encompasses formulating and executing research strategies, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating cross- functionally to develop cutting –edge products. The Head of Product Research and Innovation is responsible to provide day-to-day line management for the product development team and guidance throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Product Development in delivering against the team’s business plan and budget.

  • Lead engagement with Directors and stakeholders to shape and influence delivery activity in line with the PRI’s strategy and objectives.

  • Work with other teams across PRI to promote user-centricity and to ensure the resourcing model for multidisciplinary teams works effectively.

  • Lead creation of strategic roadmaps, business cases, funding forecasts and delivery plans to define the pipeline of future work in RIS Solutions

  • Manage, coach and mentor direct reports, responsible for increasing capability and ensuring product development standards and met.

  • Work with the Director of Product Development in the recruitment, retention, and upskilling of team members to define standards and best practices.

  • Provide regular reporting to the Director of Product Portfolio and Chief Responsible Investment Solutions Officer as required.

  • Coordinate product development activities, ensuring alignment with the overall strategic PRI objectives.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify new product development opportunities including attending conferences, industry events and reviewing research.

  • Actively participate in product development meetings and workshops to understand signatory needs and gather feedback for product development opportunities.

Person Specification

  • Well- developed people management skills (including providing feedback, challenge, and coaching) and the ability to manage a high-performing team.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of product development and the product lifecycle, preferably in a SaaS, RaaS, software/platform development, digital, data product environment, finance and/or ESG.

  • Good written communication and verbal presentation skills, including public speaking skills with the ability to give presentations, lead meetings, and communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to use qualitative or quantitative research (e.g., customer feedback and market research.) to gain insights.

  • Extensive experience in product development with proven success in leading crossing cross- functional teams through the entire product development lifecycle.

  • Significant experience and ability to analyse business processes and gather requirements.

  • Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills and experience of building strong and productive relationships.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to developing others and a growth mindset, actively pursuing continuous profession and personal development.
