About the role 

The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) has an unswerving commitment to high quality, evidence-informed teacher education, and is on a mission to improve the quality of teacher and leader development across the system. 

The Regional Recruitment Manager is responsible for managing a pipeline of high-potential recruits to the NIoT’s golden thread programmes, including ITT, ECF and NPQs: individuals who are excited about using the best research and practice insights to drive their development and increase impact on children.  The successful candidate will also work closely with the region’s Partnership Manager to ensure the development of relationships with local schools, trusts and local authorities to ensure system level recruitment.  

The Regional Recruitment Manager is a critical member of our South and West regional team and will work closely with our central recruitment team and the recruitment teams in our Associate Colleges. The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Principal in the South and West and have a dotted reporting line to the central Director of Recruitment. 

They ensure that applicants have a seamless, positive and inclusive experience that minimises attrition and reflects the NIoT’s ethos. The successful candidate will also hold close relationships with our Marketing and Communications function to ensure that we promote our programmes effectively.  

As well as a dynamic doer, the Regional Recruitment Manager will be highly organised and solution orientated, helping us to run the complex process of participant recruitment as efficiently as possible/ 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing regional team and contribute to the success of a new National Institute. 

Main duties and responsibilities:  

  • Ensure a seamless, positive experience for applicants, which reflects the NIoT’s ethos and values  

  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure effective marketing of programmes with the region, including digital campaigns and bespoke events. 

  • Maintain oversight and monitor the pipeline from initial interest through to commencement on programme  

  • Use data to continuously analyse and improve the process, sharing strategic insights (e.g,. common exit points) with the wider team  

  • Feed data and insights back into the central recruitment function and to your counterparts in our other three regions to ensure a robust, effective and consistent interview and assessment process for applicants that involves Associate Colleges   

  • Lead the design of onboarding logistics, taking applicants from successful interview, through the necessary checks, and preparing them for course commencement 

  • Work hand in hand with Associate Colleges (ACs) throughout the recruitment process, including offering relevant induction to AC recruitment managers 

  • Support regional marketing efforts by representing the NIoT at relevant events 

  • Champion diversity and ensure an inclusive, equitable recruitment approach, which reflects global best practice, attracts a diverse pool of applicants and is accessible to all.   

Additional Responsibilities  

  • Support the work of the IT Product Manager who manages the tech solution to continuously improve user experience internally and externally 

Work closely with:  

  • the Executive Director of Partnerships to leverage the links with Associate Colleges and other Trusts to maximise local recruitment;   

  • Degree Awarding Powers Director to ensure all recruitment policies are aligned to success in the OfS process;  

Essential Criteria 

  • A commitment to the aims of the National Institute of Teaching 

  • Confidence and skill in using and analysing data, and an understanding of the sector, to inform and shape the regional recruitment approach for the region. 

  • Strong oral and written presentational skills, and the ability to present complex information clearly and succinctly to a range of audiences. 

  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. 

  • The ability to develop and deliver a comprehensive and detailed regional marketing campaign to recruit participants for ITT, NPQ and ECF, with a focus on areas of disadvantage. 

  • Building collaborative and consultative relationships with a range of internal stakeholders, and working to align varied, often competing, interests.    

  • A drive to meet challenging targets and work collaboratively with a national team. 

Desirable criteria 

  • A thorough understanding of the suite of golden thread programmes 

  • Experience developing digital marketing campaigns 

  • Experience using a CRM system

The NIoT team is currently made up of seconded staff from its Founding MATs supported by specialist external contractors. We are now transitioning from this start-up phase and are recruiting for permanent staff to take over the work of the NIoT from this founding team.
