Facilities Engineering Summer Students 

4 month term

Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, our Facilities Engineering summer student positions will provide you with opportunities to work alongside industry professionals, receive one-on-one mentorship, and apply your academic experience in a meaningful way while growing and developing your skills, contributing to our Facilities team, and kick-starting a successful engineering career. 

 

Opportunity details are as follows: 

Term length: 4 months 

Term start:  May or June 2024 

Job location:  Denver, Colorado 

Shift schedule:  5 days/week (Monday – Friday), 8 hours/day 

Hybrid Option: Yes  

Safety sensitive position:  Yes (Will partake in trips to the field 2-3 times during the summer, always accompanied by an Enerplus Facilities Engineer) 

 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Work closely with a mentor and be assigned a project and related responsibilities to provide you with hands-on, learning opportunities. 

  • Assist the team with day-to-day operations and special projects 

  • Complete and update engineering design package documents including: Scope of Work, Design Signoff Forms, Budget / Cost Estimates, Piping Specifications, Bill of Materials, Cause and Effect, Engineering Drawings / Redlines    

  • Gain high-level knowledge of the multitude of disciplines and stages required in the “life of a well”. Obtain a solid understanding of all aspects involved in the separation, storage, and take-away process of production fluids and gas. Use your grasp on the subject matter in day-to-day operations and through special projects. 

  • Investigate the impact of environmental and regulatory rules on facility design. Assist in the design and implementation of projects related to these rules and regulations. 

  • Work closely with Enerplus’ interdisciplinary teams through meetings and electronic communication. Share pertinent information to the appropriate parties in a clear, effective, and timely manner.   

  • Efficiently track project related data and costs using the appropriate software programs. 

 

What You Bring to The Role:    

  • Minimum two years of completed post-secondary in a Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or Electrical Engineering undergraduate degree program  

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communicator. 

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic. 

  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment and effectively track and manage priorities. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
