Software Developer
The Green Party
- Closing: 12:00pm, 12th Mar 2024 GMT
Job Description
As a result of receiving restricted funding to support the development of the Green Party Digital Team, we’re currently seeking a talented and versatile PHP Developer. As a key member of the team, you will have a unique opportunity to bring together the party’s systems and shape our campaigning future.
Collaborating closely with our Finance, Membership, Fundraising and Field teams, you will design and implement robust data flows between our existing SaaS platforms and lead the development of bespoke systems for use throughout the party.
You will have a keen eye for possibilities offered by Open Data and how this can be used by political parties to help augment campaigning on the ground and online.
Principal Roles and Responsibilities
Outline of the Software Developer role:
1. Improve and expand our internal data store, designing APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to open this data for wider use.
2. Develop a membership and financial data website to enhance access to our underlying Salesforce data across all levels of the party.
3. Lead the day-to-day development of our voter engagement platform in collaboration with the Head of Technology, the Digital Team, the Elections Managers and our volunteer programmers.
4. Remove our reliance on third-party data transfer tools by coding robust solutions for data transfer between systems.
5. Improve our website solutions for the national, local and regional parties in conjunction with the Senior Design and Publications Officer.
6. Liaise with third-party providers to simplify our payment systems.
7. Design a replacement for our existing email and petition tools, integrating with the voter engagement platform and membership databases.
8. Help devise solutions to retire our remaining legacy systems.
9. Direct ad hoc volunteer projects and lead code reviews before deployment.
If you would like an informal conversation about the role before applying, please contact Stewart Christie, Head of Technology, via email (stewart.christie@greenparty.org.uk) to arrange a call.
Please note that the Applied recruitment system is configured to ask a series of questions that will support shortlisting for this role. Each question is based on one or more of the attributes listed in the person specification below and your answers will be scored based on how you demonstrate the attribute(s) that are relevant to the specific question being asked.
