The Digital Strategy Programme Management team plays a crucial role in shaping the delivery of Historic England’s Digital Strategy vision, which is to improve access to our expertise and the information that we hold - providing tools to help everyone make a positive difference to the historic environment. The team aspires to be confident and high achieving, with programme and project management professionals who are empowered to drive forward systems development and digital transformation.
What you will be doing
The post holder will work as part of the Digital Strategy Programme Management Team; joining the existing Programme Manager, Project Manager and PMO Support Manager as well as a number of contracted Project Managers. The Project Manager (External Contracts) will have two main roles: to manage the procurement process and on-going contract management of externally provided services and expertise required to deliver the Digital Strategy; and to provide project and programme management support for work within the Foundations (core, technical systems) workstream of the programme. The post holder will deal directly with both external organisations and HE colleagues; managing contractors, budgets and providing quality assurance of project documentation.

Experience of leading teams; in particular line management of project managers & project/programme officers
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
Good organisational skills including attention to detail with emphasis on change control
Ability to take ownership of challenges with tenacity to ensure overall good programme delivery
