About Us

The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is a social purpose company that combines two approaches to improve people’s lives and communities. First, we use behaviour science (behavioural economics, social psychology) to design new policy ideas with our partners. Second, we run policy experiments, often using randomised controlled trials (RCTs), to determine the effectiveness of those ideas. A collection of these projects can be found here.

Our Singapore office was launched in September 2016. BIT is a trusted advisor to government agencies in Singapore, working with 8 ministries - for example the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs - and many more statutory authorities.

As our team in Singapore grows, we are now looking for an Associate Advisor to join us. About You

We are looking for people who understand what we do, share our values, and are keen to learn and develop their expertise. We are looking for candidates with the skills listed below. We expect to provide training and development support in some of the areas.

• Design and deliver research projects across a broad range of policy areas

• Public policy: You gather evidence why some policies, programmes and services are effective and others impractical

• Behavioural science: You have an undergraduate degree in economics, psychology, or other relevant discipline, and a demonstrable interest in behavioural insights

• Expertise in at least one of these areas of research:

  • Experimental methods, such as randomised controlled trials (RCTs), cluster RCTs, or mixed-effects modeling;

  • Quasi-experimental methods, such as difference-in-difference, matching, or regression discontinuity; or

  • Implementation and process evaluation, such as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) and program logic maps.

• Understanding R and RStudio is highly desirable.

What does an Associate Advisor at BIT do?

In this role, you will be expected to work on projects across a wide range of policy areas in Singapore. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about applying behavioural insights to improve the lives of citizens. 

As an Associate Advisor, you would be involved in things like:

• Managing and delivering projects in the Singapore team’s portfolio. This could include preparing policy papers, trial checklists, ideas notes, and literature reviews. You will work with either a Principal Advisor/ Senior Advisor in BIT to implement these projects.  

• Working with colleagues across the organisation to build a positive and collaborative culture and ensuring that quality is maintained across the business.

• Listening to the objectives and requirements of the organisation seeking advice from BIT, identifying problems, determining the appropriate research methodology with support from our specialist researchers and advising organisations based on these findings.

• Sharing and communicating insights through activities such as running workshops with clients, and addressing seminars and conferences to present project findings.

How to apply

We use a great platform called Applied to reduce bias in the recruitment process. You will need to answer a series of multiple choice and free-text questions about Behavioural Science which will be anonymously marked by members of our team. Our selection is based on performance in these questions, rather than looking at your CV. 

Candidates with the top scoring answers will be invited to a structured assessment centre where you get to meet some of the team.
