Job Description
The Role:
We’re looking for a dynamic, commercial savvy Grocery Controller to lead our UK and Ireland Grocery channel on a maternity cover contract. This isn’t a caretaker role. It’s a chance to step into a high-profile position, take ownership, and make a real impact from day one.
You’ll be leading a high-performing team, managing key customer relationships and delivering against ambitious growth targets. It’s a hands-on, outcomes-focused role, perfect for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and knows how to drive results.
If you’ve got experience across both large FMCGs and agile, high-growth brands, and you’re excited by the idea of landing wins, building momentum, and leaving a legacy, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
During this maternity cover, you will:
Take the reins of our Grocery & Convenience channel, owning strategy, execution, and P&L across major UK and Irish retailers
Lead from the front, managing a key grocery account while coaching and empowering a high-performing team
Drive growth through smart, creative commercial plans — from JBPs to NPD launches, trade marketing, and revenue management
Spot and seize opportunities in white space channels such as Convenience, Q-commerce, and Discounters
Build powerful relationships with buyers, category managers, and supply chain teams to unlock value and momentum
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Category, and S&OP teams to ensure flawless execution and forecasting
Be a commercial voice at the table, contributing to leadership forums and shaping how we win in Grocery
Leave a legacy — this isn’t just about keeping the seat warm. It’s about landing wins, building capability, and setting the team up for continued success
Essential Requirements:
Significant experience in senior commercial roles within the FMCG sector, with a strong track record of leading UK grocery accounts at a strategic level
Proven success managing one or more of the UK’s Top 6 grocery retailers, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver high-impact Joint Business Plans
Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing commercial teams
Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to balance long-term growth planning with short-term delivery
Confident in managing full P&L responsibility, forecasting, and driving revenue and margin growth
Highly collaborative, with experience working cross-functionally across supply chain, marketing, category, and finance
Able to step into a fast-paced environment and make an immediate impact, bringing energy, clarity, and focus to the team
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to represent the Grocery function at a senior leadership level
