Contract: Casual Contract due to finish on 31st March 2024.

Location:  Mobile, anywhere within the boundary of New Forest District Council, with planning time worked from home

New Forest District Council is working with Keep Britain Tidy to undertake a survey of street level properties in the borough, including houses and houses that have been converted into flats, to record the potential for wheeled bins for waste and recycling to be used in the future. The evidence shows that wheeled bins help drive up recycling and reduce waste, however not all properties in the district will be able to accommodate these new bins, for example due to lack of storage space. Therefore, it is important for this survey to capture information about each property for a final decision to be made. The survey will also include capturing information about each street for a risk assessment for the new collection vehicles and route planning, such as space for the vehicle to turn around, width or height restrictions and presence of schools.

Waste & Recycling Surveyors will work alone, outdoors in all weather, and will each cover a different area of the district each day on foot. Responsibilities include:

·       Making a visual assessment of the property based on defined criteria to assess potential for wheeled bins, e.g. capacity of outdoor space/frontage

·       Making a visual assessment of the street by identifying key hazards (width or height restrictions) and street information (presence of schools, if houses are on one or both sides of the road)

·       Recording information into a bespoke form using data collection software on a tablet or mobile phone (provided) and submitting this to the Project Manager on a daily basis

·       Meeting daily targets for the number of properties surveyed

·       Liaising directly with the Project Manager to ensure smooth running of the project and your own safety

·       Organising your own daily work plan and communicating this to the Project Manager

We are currently looking for full time staff who are willing and able to start immediately.

The project needs to be completed by 31st March 2024 therefore we are recruiting on a rolling basis with a view to start work immediately.
