Job Title: 3rd-5th Grade Learning Specialist

​​The Brandeis School of San Francisco seeks a joyfully collaborative, kind, and knowledgeable learning specialist for our middle school. The position will begin August 14 2024. This position will report to the director of the lower school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be an active, integrated part of the 3rd - 5th grades

  • Work in collaboration with teachers and learning support team to problem solve and to identify innovative, practical, and effective differentiation strategies based on student strengths and to meet student learning needs.  

  • Assess, monitor progress, and support individual student learning needs (executive functioning, reading, writing, math, etc.), student performance and tailor curriculum for both intervention and acceleration.

  • In the classroom, they will support students in the whole group setting, small group setting, and with individual students. 

  • Meet with parents to request full evaluations; connect with evaluators, provide school records and teacher feedback

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group remediation for students diagnosed with learning differences in third and fourth grades.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and outside professionals to meet the academic needs of students.

  • Communicate students’ progress with parents and teachers on a regular basis through meetings and email correspondence.

  • Maintain records by documenting plans, progress, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education or special education or Certificate in educational therapy preferred.

  • California teaching credential, preferred.

  • A minimum of three years experience in the field of education with expertise in special education or differentiated learning practices across curricular areas

  • Familiar with the principles of teaching reading, writing, and math at the upper elementary and middle school levels. 

  • Experience in collaborating with teams, teachers, and parents.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - 110,000 annually based on prior experience, education, and position requirements. Medical, dental, life, and long-term disability and retirement benefits are provided.
