Job Description

They are delighted to launch their Season 2024/25 Internship Programme, aiming to develop and prepare individuals for a future career in football. There are five places available in the cohort, with each Intern assigned to a department for an 11-month period where you will learn and develop your skillset across that function. The departments for candidates to apply to are: Policy & Corporate Affairs, Commercial, Finance, Football Development and Football Operations. Your department will depend on your current skillset and interests, which we will explore with you at application and interview stage.

The Finance team play a crucial role in both the operational running of the business and supporting member Clubs to comply with both Premier League Rule and UEFA’s financial regulations. The team also provides accountancy support to our wider group/affiliate entities such PGMOL, Football DataCo and the Premier League Charitable Fund. The League’s IT, Office Services and Procurement functions all fall within the Finance remit to ensure the wider business strives for the best results. 

The Role:

As a Finance Intern, you'll be:

  • Operational support with the delivery of Profitability and Sustainability rules and UEFA Club Licensing, as well as ad-hoc analysis of Club finances

  • Assisting in general accounting and accounts payable and receivable tasks within the Finance department. This will cover the Premier League company as well as the wider group/affiliated entities such as PGMOL, FDC and PLCF

  • Assisting the finance department with annual audit process by providing information and audit evidence to external auditors. As part of the audit process, understanding how football finance operates, including the flow of funds from PL Broadcast partners through to Clubs and other key stakeholders

  • Providing support to complete the month-end process across the different affiliated entities

  • Assisting with accounting software migration project

The Package:

  • Annual salary of £26,000

  • 70/20/10 learning structure where 70% of learning is done on the job, 20% from coaching and mentoring, and 10% from formal training
