Our Climate Solution team provides clients with exceptional technical expertise combined with a strategic approach to developing innovative programs that reduce our clients' carbon emissions and build their resilience in a low-carbon economy. Our Climate services span greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting and reporting, Science-Based target (SBT) and Net Zero strategy development, energy management, renewables and carbon markets, and climate risk and TCFD reporting. Our Climate team is distributed across North America and in Manila, The Philippines.

Summary of Role

The Climate team is rapidly growing and seeks a Training Manager to design, deliver and support training programs focused on corporate carbon management. Areas of focus are carbon literacy, data management, GHG emissions accounting and the development of climate action plans (e.g., SBTs and Net Zero), and our suite of associated tools and software solutions. Reporting to the Climate Solution Operations Lead, the Training Manager will determine training needs and develop appropriate training programs, technology and learning approaches. The incumbent will do so in close collaboration with Climate subject matter experts (SMEs), Climate Solution and Service Leads, and our Learning & Development (L&D) Manager. To remain close to learning needs, an average of 30% of the Training Manager’s time will be billable--spent planning, managing and executing client projects and providing technical expertise to consulting teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with SMEs to gather specifications for training content and with the L&D Manager to determine methods for delivery of training and effective use of the Learning Management System (LMS). Modes of instruction may include taught courses, drop-in clinics, work-shadowing programs, and online training, amongst others.

  • Develops new training programs and courses in response to organization's training needs.

  • Delivers training, in tandem with SMEs or independently.

  • Coordinates training logistics (e.g., communications, scheduling, and system use).

  • Curates a SharePoint library of training materials, tools, and best practices.

  • Produces reports of training results and maintains training attendance records.

  • Works with SMEs, project delivery teams and the Learning & Development Manager to track and improve teaching and learning outcomes.

  • Assesses effectiveness of training programs and works with L&D Manager to evolve and update the approach.

  • Client delivery – serves in an advisory capacity to client and project teams, focusing on key high value activities, such as defining client needs, project planning, and directing execution of tasks.

  • Participates in occasional calls with international colleagues outside of normal working hours.

  • Applies project and program management practices.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a sustainability-related field in Environmental Sciences or Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or other sustainability-related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience as a sustainability/carbon/climate practitioner, ideally in a consultancy environment, and/or related corporate or NGO roles.

  • Demonstrated technical track record in GHG emissions accounting and reporting.

  • Familiarity with processes for developing SBTs.

  • Experience in assessing climate risk and TCFD reporting preferred.

  • Deep working knowledge of the GHG Protocol and related standards (e.g., Corporate Standard, Scope 2 Guidance, Scope 3 Standard, Product Standard, etc.), as well as emerging accounting, reporting and target setting standards from the Science-based Target Initiative, WRI, CDP, The Climate Group (RE100, EV100), etc.

  • Knowledgeable about best practices for data management Excel modelling.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, and strong presentation skills.

  • Experience in delivering and designing instructional content.

  • Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring others, resulting in successful knowledge transfer.

  • Ability to engage an audience through virtual platforms.

  • Ability to effectively work with global colleagues in various cultures and time zones.

  • Efficient in use of Office365, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
