Job Description

OVERVIEW

We are looking for someone to generate income from Trusts and Foundations so that our award-winning environmental charity can maximise its impact. You may not be an experienced fundraiser but if you have the skills and passion for the role, our work inspires you and our culture and values resonate, then we want to hear from you.

Hubbub works with some of the UK’s top charitable funders, as well as some of its best-known companies, from Tesco to BT. Our positive, innovative, impactful work saw us named ‘Charity of the Year’ at the Charity Times Awards in 2020. It reflected the difference we have made with campaigns ranging from the Community Fridge Network, which distributes millions of meals’ worth of surplus food each year, to a £1m grant fund for innovative projects tackling plastic pollution. We are seeing more opportunities to work with large charitable donors, and need to expand our team to make the most of them.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Your skills and attributes are more important than your fundraising track record (although experience generating income is, of course, a big plus!). This role could suit you if:

  • You’re aligned with our values (see below)

  • You write brilliantly. You balance creative flair with clear and concise prose.

  • You enjoy research. You can swiftly synthesise information and concepts and break them down for others.

  • You are comfortable with numbers and at ease when building and analysing budgets.

  • You are passionate about the environment and sustainability.

  • You love to work as part of a team, and pride yourself on your listening skills.

  • Your attention to detail is second to none. Or should that be ‘second-to-none’?

THE ROLE

You’ll be the first dedicated fundraiser in a team of over 40 people and will play a big part in defining the scope of the role. You might develop crowdfunding opportunities, for example, or work with tech companies on innovative micro-philanthropy partnerships. You’ll receive the support you need to grow, and you’ll have the opportunity to help define Hubbub’s long-term approach to fundraising.

The key functions of this role are:

  • To meet income targets by creating high quality budgeted proposals for potential funders.

  • To identify potential funders among grant-making institutions in the UK and beyond.

  • To liaise with Directors and Senior Creative Partners to identify projects that could be funded by grant-makers.

  • To ensure that all reporting requirements are met for secured grants by working closely with the Impact Director and project delivery teams.

  • To build strong ongoing relationships with existing and potential funders.

  • To support other activities that will generate funds, including writing proposals for corporate partnerships and tenders.

BENEFITS

  • 25 days per year holiday allowance, plus bank holidays and extended Christmas break

  • Ongoing professional development through our training partner, You Can Now

  • 5% employer pension contribution

  • Yoga and HIIT classes, and more

  • Office at Somerset House with resident discounts and perks

  • Flexible working. Our office is in London and our salaries include London weighting. If you're based elsewhere you'll need to be able to come to London regularly at your own expense. We're still working out exactly what 'regularly' means, but perhaps 1-3X/month.
