Job Description

The Green Party of England and Wales (GPEW) is growing rapidly in membership, political representation, organisational scale and ambition. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure that the Party has the structures, resources, systems and organisational capacity to convert that growth into sustained political impact.

Reporting to the CEO and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the COO is the senior executive lead for the Party's core organisational infrastructure. The role provides strategic leadership and integrated oversight across finance, people, governance, digital, data, risk, compliance and organisational operations. It translates strategic and governance decisions into deliverable plans; strengthens accountability and performance; and enables staff, elected representatives, governance bodies, members and local and regional parties to work together effectively.

The COO will combine long-term organisational development with confident day-to-day leadership in a fast-moving and politically sensitive environment. They will be accountable to and collaborate with our governance bodies, and lead through the relevant Heads of Department, respecting professional accountabilities and the roles of the Party's elected and statutory office-holders.
