About the Role

Very Great is looking for a talented Senior Front End Developer to join our Web Services team and lead in creating best in class web experiences for our brands across mobile and desktop. As a Senior Front End Developer you will help build, user-test, iterate and maintain high quality code and user features on our Shopify and WordPress websites. You’ll have a desire to mentor and develop junior team members and will establish best coding standards and practices. You are constantly curious, passionate about user experience, a strategic and solutions-oriented problem solver and you thrive working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.

This is a full time role based in-house in New York City and reports into the Director of Web Services. 

Responsibilities

• Develop, user-test, iterate and maintain clean and functional code on our Shopify and WordPress websites

• Effectively translate website wireframes or mockups that align, optimize and elevate our customers user experience with our products

• Optimize web features for maximum performance across a wide range of web-enabled devices and browsers

• Identify, translate and structure the breakdown of project workflow for your own work, team members and brand team timelines

• Mentor, train and develop team members on current websites, project work and on the latest relevant technology advancements

• Drive and improve coding quality across the Web Services team

• Proactively and consistently identify areas of improvement across our websites

• Test and optimize sites for cross-browser and cross-device compatibility

• Work collaboratively across brand and creative teams to assist with strategy and development of new websites, features and campaigns

About You

• 5+ years experience. At least two years in a Senior Front End Developer position

• E-commerce experience required

• Domain expertise in React.js, Shopify and WordPress

• Skilled at integrating latest front end technologies (React, Vue.js) with Shopify

• Strong design instincts and enjoys working collaboratively with a team of designers

• Highly detailed oriented and thrives in a fast paced environment

• Savvy at managing multiple, concurrent running projects 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Effective problem solving, analytical and debugging skills

• Working knowledge and experience with the following technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery, Shopify or WordPress, Ruby, AJAX, JSON, React.js, and Web Animation (CSS transitions, @keyframe animations, JavaScript animations)

• Familiarity with Headless Website development and architecture
