Job Description

About the PRI

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.

The PRI’s three distinct capabilities relate to the core elements of the PRI’s approach to achieving a sustainable financial system.

  • Translate RI (Responsible Investment) thought leadership into insights and practical support that is tailored to what signatories need to progress their RI practice

  • Convene our vast network to create opportunities for collaborative action

  • Harness our global scale to influence policymakers and regulators to effect system change

Job Description

The Senior Responsible Investment Manager will be part of the UK & Ireland Responsible Investment Ecosystems (RIE) team-which includes UK & Ireland Responsible Investment Managers and Policy colleagues- and will be working  towards strengthening the UK & Ireland Responsible Investment Ecosystem and providing local investors with the tools to advance their responsible investment processes. There will be scope for regular domestic travel to Scotland and occasional international travel primarily for signatory meetings, industry events and internal meetings. The successful candidate will join and work closely with two existing UK & Ireland Responsible Investment Managers and will report to the Head of UK & Ireland.

The role involves coverage of the PRI’s existing signatory base in the market as well as the coordination and local implementation of global PRI programs to drive progressive signatory action. A substantial part of this role will involve working directly with the Head of UK & Ireland on the execution of the PRI’s local strategy for the UK & Ireland. There is also an opportunity to work closely with investors and industry stakeholders on  market-led initiatives that sit in line with the PRI’s global strategy and priorities and that contribute to the development of the local Responsible Investment Ecosystem.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a growing, inclusive team which forms part of the wider Responsible Investment Ecosystem team. This provides a fantastic environment to help lead initiatives and share ideas with other Responsible Investment Managers and country heads representing parts of the world at differing stages of their ESG journeys.

This is a great time to join the PRI as responsible investment is becoming mainstream across many jurisdictions  and the PRI is working closely with investors and stakeholders to take responsible investment practices to the next level. Through your active engagement with the UK & Ireland RIE in this role you will be able to contribute to both the PRI’s organisational development as well as the future growth and implementation of responsible investment.

  • Engage UK signatories and support progression of their RI practices through signatory meetings, reporting & assessment sessions and other PRI-supported events.

  • Strengthen existing and develop new relationships with key stakeholders in England and Scotland to support the development of the local RIE.

  • Conduct outreach to key strategic targets including public and corporate pension plans, insurers, endowments/foundations and key asset managers and consultants.

  • Assist on strategic and/or ad hoc projects that are consistent with overall RIE team or PRI objectives as needed.

  • Represent PRI at relevant events to help raise the organisation’s profile in the market and  showcase relevant recent research, initiatives and guides.

  • Aid overall team effectiveness by contributing to the EMEA team monthly and global team quarterly meetings.

  • Develop strong working relationships with PRI’s other teams on UK & Ireland market-related issues, including the Product Development and Management, Investor Initiatives, ESG Issues and Guidance teams.
