Overview:

Reporting to:
Chief Investment Officer
The team:
Our team is small, so you will work across all asset classes, including public equity, credit, hedge funds, private equity, private credit and private real estate. You will also be involved in broader portfolio management issues including asset allocation, performance analysis and reporting. The role will involve supporting implementation of the endowment’s ESG strategies. The role provides a wealth of opportunity to develop a detailed understanding of long-term multi-asset class investing as well as investing for social impact. Key to this role, above prior experience, is someone with a keen interest in ESG themes, a strong grasp of financial concepts and the willingness and ability to learn and develop in the role (at pace).
Key
responsibilities:
You will be responsible for a broad range of investment management activities, including:
• Screening and due diligence of external managers, funds or direct investments across all asset classes;
• Monitoring of current investments through manager meetings, conferences, fund document reviews, inclusive of the provision of performance analysis and written commentaries covering not just financial performance but also performance against the Foundation’s ESG criteria;
• Preparation of periodic performance reports and Investment Committee materials, including performance, attribution and exposure analyses;
• Maintenance and improvement of various proprietary portfolio management, cash flow, reporting and risk systems;
• Research into economic, industry and financial market trends to help inform asset allocation decisions and to fuel investment idea generation; and
• Development and implementation of plans to increase the integration of ESG principles into the portfolio including frameworks for achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 or earlier; and
• Supporting the Foundation’s engagement with corporate sector on issues affecting health.

Personal attributes:
• Experience can include but is not limited to any of the following areas:
o Investment banking or capital markets;
o Asset management;
o Investment function in single or multi-family office;
o Investment function at direct investment fund or multi-asset investment fund;
o Investment consultancy; and/or
o Financial advisory.
• Where experience is not directly investment related, a candidate must have a demonstrable interest in transitioning to financial markets investing.
• Skilled at examining and interpreting data from different sources and understanding the impact this will have on investments. Must have attention to detail and good communication skills. These capabilities will be tested during the recruitment process.
• Advanced excel skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
