Job Description

We're looking for a diligent Quality Assurance Officer to join our Operations team and be responsible for assessing our customer mortgage journeys to ensure that we provide the most suitable advice to our customers. You will undertake quality assurance as part of our first line of defence, in line with Habito’s and the approved FCA guidelines.

You’ll be part of a diverse team with years of mortgage experience amongst them. It’s a fast-paced and ever-changing environment – if something’s not working well, we’re not afraid to change it. You will be able to combine your existing quality assurance and leadership experience with the best technology.

More about what you’ll do:

  • Reporting to the Director of Mortgage Advice, you’ll stay on top of quality metrics to deliver the best possible customer outcomes

  • You’ll coach team members through 1 to 1s and team meetings, celebrating successes and mentoring on areas of improvement. 

  • You’ll work with the People team, making sure any initial and ongoing training is taken care of. 

  • Compliance – and Habito’s values – will be at the heart of everything you do. You’ll consistently make sure that both your team’s and customers’ interests are looked after.

  • You will work closely with the Director of Mortgage Advice to manage & reduce risk to the business and make recommendations to enhance the compliance culture and policies currently in place.

  • Evaluate mortgage journeys in line with Habito policy and external regulations to ensure good customer outcomes.

  • Maintain and build on the existing culture at Habito

  • Analyse customer applications and carrying out robust file reviews for advice and file quality

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to our Mortgage Expert team and oversee our exceptions process. 

  • Deliver feedback on file and advice quality 

  • Work alongside Mortgage Expert Team Leaders to ensure remedial work is completed in a timely manner and any key risks are identified and remedied 

  • Report on quality assurance outputs to committees as required

  • Work closely with 2nd line to support the ongoing compliance monitoring programme

  • Make suggestions to improve frameworks, standards and policies, such as the Mortgage Advice and Submissions Standards

  • Carry out thematic reviews to help identify and mitigate risk.

  • Lead the implementation of any regulatory change in the Brokerage Operations team

The Candidate

  • CeMAP qualified 

  • Experience in a broker/ mortgage lending environment

  • Mortgage file reviewing experience

  • Strong understanding of the Mortgage Industry or Financial Services Regulation

  • Good working knowledge of the end-to-end mortgage process

  • Attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach

  • Good communication skills

  • Self-motivation and prepared to take responsibility and ownership of tasks

  • Hard-working, tenacity and a focused mindset

  • The ability to work independently, using their initiative and work as part of a wider team

  • The ability to comfortably handle change in a fast-evolving environment

  • Stakeholder management experience coupled with strong self-learning capability and a focus on personal development

  • Experience in coaching and/or training 

  • Analytical and detail oriented skills to identify trends and pick up on areas of challenge on a team or individual basis
