Job Description

Contribute to successful student experiences by providing support in the behind-the-scenes aspects of running NOLS Teton Valley. Assist in issuing and de-issuing courses, driving courses to the field, cooking and prepping meals in the kitchen, and contribute as a member of a hard-working team.

What does a Winter Operations Assistant do?

  • Contribute to an environment that encourages instructors and students to feel relaxed, supported, and focused going into the field.

  • Assist the kitchen manager with food prep, cooking, serving, and cleaning. 

  • Drive students and faculty to road access points, regional airports, doctor’s visits, etc.

  • Rotate through an on-call schedule to support the evacuation department with logistics.

  • Organize course paperwork.

  • Assist the outfitting department by checking, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining outdoor gear and equipment. 

  • Help students get ready to go on their expedition by issuing them gear and equipment.

  • Assist the rations (field food) department by shopping for and packing food. 

  • Support facilities maintenance with snow removal and trash/recycling pick-up.

  • Maintain a willingness to step into different roles and take on additional tasks.

  • Preferred: Experience driving vans and trucks; familiarity with outdoor equipment.

Who are we and what can we offer you?

NOLS Teton Valley is located in Driggs, Idaho, at the foot of the western side of the Teton Range (40 minutes from Jackson Hole, WY). On-campus yurt housing is available for a modest fee. Staff members are not required to live on-property. Meals are provided for in-town staff when students are on-site. This is a full-time seasonal position with an anticipated end date in early March.
