About the role
The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) has an unswerving commitment to high quality, evidence-informed teacher education, and is on a mission to improve the quality of teacher and leader development across the system.
As a key member of the Digital team, reporting directly to the CTO, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development and management of NIoT digital infrastructure and web platforms.
Working closely with the Institutes professional services and partnerships teams, the Head of Digital Infrastructure will be responsible for leading and managing digital platforms, website development and maintenance, CRM and LMS project planning and implementation, DfE API integrations and multi-stakeholder reporting.

Key responsibilities
· Lead day to day management and support of Digital platforms
· Drive continuous improvement in our approach to IT systems & technology services, including by learning from best practice outside the NIoT
· To manage, maintain and develop the NIoT external and internal websites
· Build highly effective relationships to support our technology activities
· Implement and maintain policies and systems to support delivery strategies established by the CTO and senior leaders
· Strongly promote innovation in Digital, by keeping up-to-date with the most recent technologies and advising on how new technological solutions and their implementation will support the needs of the Institute.
· Develop standard operating procedures allied to best practice, and ensure written protocols and guidelines are provided for staff and all end-users
· Support users to exploit all available services through effective engagement, communication and training.
· Developing systems to ensure the Institute makes best use of new technologies.
· Advise, challenge and support the Institutes professional services team to improve information and data processes, and to minimise bureaucracy where possible
· Utilising appropriate technologies, develop efficient, effective and appropriate mechanisms for the delivery of Key Performance Indicators to support the Institutes Executive Team and Board in their development of plans and strategies
· Provide appropriate advice and training on digital systems across the organisation
· Support Regional Principals to co-ordinate the analysis and reporting of outcomes and progress for participants across the Institute and support leaders in analysis and interpretation ensuring appropriate data standards and information security principles are maintained
· Build highly effective relationships to support our digital activities
· Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
What we are looking for
· Knowledge of the education sector
· Proven track record of developing and implementing complex digital systems and strategies within a large organisation
· Experience of PHP programming, MySQL, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript
· Experience of building WordPress CMS websites
· Experience of producing data within an educational organisation
· Ability to manage a large number of competing priorities
· Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (or similar CRM)
· Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
· Experience working with Microsoft Power Apps
· Experience of designing and developing web applications
· Ability to work independently and manage different priorities
· Curiosity and creativity to help shape new processes in a new organisation
· Project management skills desirable
· Experience of communicating effectively with non-technical staff and influencing senior staff and academics
· Flexibility and adaptability with a ‘can do’ attitude

Contract: Permanent
Salary: £47,573 per annum + benefits
