ABOUT THE TEAM

The Ambassador Relations team work creatively and innovatively with Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters to maximise (publicly and privately) fundraising, brand, and advocacy opportunities for UNICEF, both in the UK and often globally.

The team prospects and manages long term relationships with Ambassadors, who have a strong knowledge of our work, and can represent UNICEF with authenticity and credibility.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will support the development and implementation of the Ambassador Strategy, and recruit and develop celebrity and high-profile support for UNICEF UK’s activities.

The Ambassador Relations Manager will be self-supporting on specific projects and relationships.  Responsibilities include representing the Ambassador Relations team on cross-committee groups, overseeing relevant budgets and activities, key contacting Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters (HPS) to ensure productive long term relationships, liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders and prospecting new talent to support UNICEF to reach our target audiences.

The Ambassador Relations Manager will look to maximise opportunities for UNICEF UK to benefit from celebrity support via brand awareness raising, fundraising, and advocacy.

What we will expect you to achieve:

  • Act as key contact to Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters, and their teams, as appropriate. Ensure all relationships are professionally managed in keeping with the Ambassador Relations strategy, promoting long term commitment to UNICEF and effective and impactful support for UNICEF’s across brand, fundraising and advocacy objectives.

  • Lead and collaborate on cross committee projects to deliver strategic support for UNICEF UK’s priorities, working with internal colleagues to develop strategies for Ambassadors and thematic projects.

  • Act as the main point of contact for a variety of departments and work with them to plan Ambassador support e.g., Advocacy, UK Programmes, Special Events and Corporate Partnerships. Provide high level, strategic advice on celebrity support to these teams as well as wider internal stakeholders, international colleagues, or external contacts.

  • Develop and maintain links with Ambassador teams (senior representatives, agents, publicists) and other key contacts externally to assist with relationship building, future prospecting and project generation.

  • Prospect new talent for UNICEF’s Ambassador programme in line with brand, risk and inclusivity guidelines to support UNICEF UK’s organisational priorities to reach our target audiences.

  • Hold responsibility for risk identification and strategy across team activities, and alert Senior Managers and Head of team to any recognised risks generating from relationships and projects.

  • Work with UNICEF UK staff and field staff in planning and delivering programme visits with Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters where necessary.  Help incorporate the highest level of outputs from trips including meeting media, fundraising and advocacy objectives. Travel on international trips with Ambassadors and High Profile Supporters if required.

  • Ensure that accurate administrative records are maintained by the Ambassador Relations team including absence monitoring, calendar, evaluation and requests spreadsheet, diaries, and Ambassador strategies. Develop impact reports and feedback systems to ensure the support of UNICEF UK’s Ambassadors is being fed back to stakeholders.

Relevant experience

  • Evidence of experience of working in a celebrity environment, significant talent booking and long-term relationship management, and a strong understanding of risk management.

  • Evidence of experience of project managing complex cross-organisational projects dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

Specific knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of, and experience of developing strategic relationships with people of influence within a complex organisational framework, anticipating challenges.

  • Understanding of UK fundraising and campaigning landscape as well as overall management of talent led deliverables; managing requests from multiple teams towards delivering compelling media, fundraising and advocacy campaigns.

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite tools.

  • Strong knowledge of media and social media.
