About the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT)
Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is a social purpose company. It exists to improve people’s lives and communities. It works in partnership with national, regional and local governments, businesses, foundations and charities, to tackle major policy problems, often through testing and implementing simple yet powerful changes.
It has 250 staff based in 8 countries across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific, and has run more than 1000 projects to date, including over 700 randomised controlled trials in dozens of countries. In addition to its own interventions, it openly shares expertise and helps others build capacity and skills to apply behavioural science for social good.
What does an HR Assistant at BIT do?
The HR Assistant will support our fast paced, but small and friendly HR Team to deliver day to day operational excellence to our UK based teams of 130 employees, and support our strategic vision. This role supports the UK based HR team which includes a HR Business Partner, a Senior HR Advisor and a HR & Recruitment Advisor as well as the Global HR Director, covering a wide range of HR duties. Reporting to the HR Business Partner, this role offers great generalist HR and recruitment exposure and would suit anyone looking to pursue and develop their career in HR with lots of contact with employees. Ongoing professional development will be supported.
Your work will be very varied and primarily support the UK but with some Global exposure too, including but not limited to:
Acting as the first point of contact for employees on generalist HR queries and policies, including the management of the central HR inbox, escalating to the team where necessary;
Assisting on all activities in our recruitment campaigns; supporting the internal or external recruitment process by booking interviews, gathering and sending materials to recruiting managers, liaising with applicants and ensuring a great candidate experience by being a friendly voice, answering all queries;
Maintaining and updating our HR systems and information including (but not limited to); inputting new starters and leavers, updating staff details, updating our org charts, running cyclical reports, for example on attrition or headcount numbers, and making sure that our multiple platforms are consistent and up to date;
A varied role supporting or assisting on all areas of the lifecycle coordinating onboarding for new starters, delivering new starter inductions and exit interviews;
Drafting letters such as pay changes, promotions, references and offers of employment;
Assisting the Senior HR Advisor with administrative payroll duties;
Supporting team wide projects at both UK and Global level, such as updating policies, launching new benefits, cyclical HR activities, helping us gather Management Information (MI).

You have a passion for HR and a keen interest in developing as an HR professional;
Previous demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced, professional services office environment;
Clear and convincing communications with strong interpersonal skills;
Good time management, organisation skills and attention to detail. You are able to produce high quality and accurate work;
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
High self-awareness and self-reflection. You are aware of the impact that your actions and words have on those around you.
You are interested in evidence based people practices;
