Job Description

Together with the Custom Education Access Partner Account Manager, the NOLS Custom Education Access Partner Account Associate will cultivate and steward NOLS’ relationship Access Partners, including the Peak Scholars Program, as well as clients such as C5 Youth Programs and Summer Search.  The Access Partner Program is designed to make NOLS experiences accessible to students from communities that are underrepresented and under-resourced in the outdoors. We do this by supporting partners that work directly with youth and adults in these communities.

While the focus is supporting the Access Partner Program, they will also hold other clients. As  part of the Custom Education team, they will support Custom Education client services, including managing course logistics and supporting client relationships in conjunction with Account Managers for all NOLS Custom Education courses for which they are responsible.

  • Location: NOLS Headquarters in Lander, WY or remote.

What does an Account Associate do?

You will be involved in the following activities:

  • Works closely with Account Managers to support new and ongoing client relationships, including course paperwork, logistics, and programming for assigned courses. Coordinates course logistics and communicates those with various NOLS departments and campuses, including nuances surrounding equipment needs, rations, student travel, and other specific student needs. Assists in the logistics preparation for remote NOLS Custom Education courses, Leave No Trace courses, Leadership Navigation Challenges, and Risk Management Trainings, including: packing rations and equipment, making travel plans, and vendor communication.  

  • Oversees enrollment progress on multiple course rosters. Maintains current and accurate information on enrollment progress in the internal NOLS database as well as on communication shared with clients. 

  • Assists with communication for current and prospective students, families, and clients, through phone and email, sending pre-course information, and answering questions pertinent to the NOLS Custom Education program, equipment, course prospects, tuition, etc. Also supports sharing this information through hosting pre-course webinars for students, mentora, and families.

  • Answers and provides general information on NOLS Custom Education in response to telephone, mail, email, and website inquiries including program capabilities, retail transactions, and frequently asked questions.

  • Assist other NOLS Custom Education staff and NOLS Expeditions Admissions staff in a variety of capacities. Executes administrative tasks related to specific course responsibilities.

  • Occasional weekend and evening work schedule in order to support student service at times that are convenient for our students, families, and organizational contacts. This is particularly true for June through August.

  • This position has flexibility for field work and classroom teaching in the range of 2-8 weeks per year, approved on a case by case basis, depending on performance, schedule, and workload.

  • Visit one to three clients per year.

  • Knowledge of NOLS course offerings, campuses, and mission.

  • Understanding of Google suite, HelpScout, and Hubspot.

In your first 6 months, you will: 

  • Review and finalize Student Paperwork. 

  • Manage course logistics and enrollment processes.

  • Visit clients, including and not limited to Summer Search offices in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia as well as attend the annual C5 Summit conference (TBD).

  • Work with the Access Partner Account Manager to facilitate mentor workshops and enrollment meetings for Access Partner organizations as well as prospective students and families.
