Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist Assistant to join the SSAFA Community Health Team in Akrotiri on a 6 month contract.

About the role

As a Speech and Language Therapist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of the Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to deliver interventions to children aged 0-19 years, to meet their communication needs. You will be required to complete accurate and contemporaneous client records.

A significant portion of your role will take place within educational settings, where you’ll engage with children both individually and in groups. You’ll also contribute to staff and parent training sessions, assist in preparing resources requested by the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team, support public health initiatives, and carry out administrative duties as required by the Speech and Language service.

Furthermore, you will be expected to attend and contribute to Locality Team meetings and SLT team development days.

About the team

You will be a member of the SSAFA Community Health Team based in Akrotiri, working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Midwives, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Community Children’s Nurses, CAMHS, Dietitian, Consultant Community Paediatrician and Community Paediatric Psychiatrist. The SSAFA Community Health Team work collaboratively with Primary Health care, Education, Social Care and Welfare agencies.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will have an interest in the development of communication skills in children. You will have good time management skills, excellent communication skills in English, ability to work as part of a team and the ability to write concise and accurate records.

A valid driving license is essential.
