Bridges Outcomes Partnerships (BOP) is a mission driven not for profit social enterprise. We help radically change human services and environmental initiatives, across the world, to improve outcomes for people, the planet, and value for society. We enable personalised and strength-based delivery through collaborative design, flexible delivery, and clear accountability for improving people’s lives. To date, we have supported over 45,000 people in the UK, whilst catalysing £122m of outcomes and, according to BSC’s Outcomes For All report, delivering over £1bn of value to society. In recent years, we have expanded our work beyond the United Kingdom to include low- and middle-income countries.
Bridges Outcomes Partnerships is a not-for-profit subsidiary of Bridges Fund Management, a specialist impact-driven investor.
The role of Bridges Outcomes Partnerships spans project development (working with outcome funders and others to design and launch the delivery), project and delivery management (coordinating the delivery phase and liaising with the various stakeholders) and project finance (funding the project until it starts to earn outcomes payments). Our own funding comes from a group of pioneering social investors, including The Office for Civil Society, Big Society Capital, UBS Optimus Foundation, Pilotlight, Trust for London, who, like us, are motivated by improving lives and changing the system for the better.
The role
The Chief of Staff will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will specifically be accountable for:
• Managing effective processes across the organisation to create internal operational excellence
• Leading or contributing to various special projects or initiatives deemed most critical for advancing BOP’s objectives
• Helping incubate new initiatives
• Supporting BOP core fundraising activities
• Facilitating cross organisational communication
• Working with the CEO in formulating and managing the strategic agenda. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will partner closely with the CEO on engagement with the Board and other key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading and facilitating organisational operational excellence initiatives:
• Build, co-ordinate and implement programme of operational excellence, creating process efficiency and continuous improvement
• Coordinate and participate in the creation and revision of systems, policies, and processes to improve the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness
• Upskill our people and make operational excellence integral to organizational capability
Special projects
• Lead or contribute to special initiatives and projects critical to advancing BOP’s objectives, in coordination with the CEO, members of the leadership team and appropriate staff
• Contribute to the development and strengthening of BOP culture, values and brand
• Where appropriate, participate in strategic and operational planning, improving accountability and alignment
Innovation
• Help incubate new services and models before they transfer to stable operations, with focus on international programmes (initially)
• Help bring in technology and novel practices which help advance our goals and ways of working
Core fundraising activities
• Work with the CEO to identify grant givers who are aligned with BOP objectives and help engage with those in order to develop and execute fundraising activities (to support BOP team’s core direct and systemic work)
• Manage relationships with funders including grant requirement management and reporting
Cross organisational communication
• Facilitate cross organisational communication
• Facilitate organisational change management in building on BOP’s unique culture,
• Foster clear, complete, and actionable communications by the CEO across all BOP staff
Board and key stakeholder engagement
• Manage execution and effectiveness of Board meetings and leadership meetings, including working with team members to prepare high-quality reading and presentation materials
• Partner with the CEO and other team members for Board related communications and engagement
Your experience, skills and abilities:
Essential
A knowledgeable leader with experience and successful track record of: -
• Building and developing innovative and creative organisations (particularly in an international development context)
• Leading and managing complex organisations and projects
• Carrying out complex analyses through excellent analytical skills
• Communicating to a wide range of audiences through effective written and verbal communication skills
• Working in a fast-paced environment
• Working across different issues at strategic and tactical levels, across a variety of stakeholders
• Understanding the power of data and analytics, with the insight to know how this can be used best to deliver BOP’s aims
• Leading innovation/transformation and bring others along on the journey
Desirable
• Experience growing / developing a business / social sector organisation
• Prior experience in a Chief of Staff role
• Degree level education or equivalent
