About the UN Global Compact Network UK
We are a multi-stakeholder initiative connecting UK companies to the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest responsible business initiative. The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, rooted in UN treaties, provide a robust foundation for corporate sustainability and business action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our mission is to promote sustainability leadership to create a world we want to live and do business in, by inspiring ambition, enabling action, and collaborating to shape the business environment.
The UN Global Compact Network UK has over 850 participating companies and we are growing quickly. The Network Secretariat Team is currently 26 people strong and also growing.
Our work is guided by the core values of the UN – Integrity, Respect for Diversity, and Professionalism – and nine additional values and behaviours of the UN Global Compact. Find out more here. During a recent review, the team used words like friendly, inclusive, supportive, family, passionate, and hard-working to describe our workplace.
About the role
We are seeking a Participant Engagement Project Manager who will work with our member companies to ensure that our programmes have maximum impact, driving more sustainable operations and helping them get value from their UN Global Compact participation.
The Participant Engagement Project Manager will report to the Head of Operations and Participant Engagement. We offer the option of hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week in the office.
We are looking for:
Someone excited about our mission and the role business can play in overcoming the environmental and social challenges the world is facing. Understanding business interests and our unique value proposition will be key to ensuring engagement with our programmes.
Someone who communicates effectively and has a customer service orientation. You will have regular email exchanges, calls, and meetings with representatives from participating businesses to nurture strong relationships with them and ensure high engagement, so an ability to listen to their needs and provide relevant and timely support will be key.
Someone with a minimum of three years of professional experience in an account management or business development role. Familiarity with Salesforce and Asana would also be an asset.
Someone who is organised and enjoys teamwork. You will need to keep track of priorities and challenges of our participating companies and collaborate with our programmes team to ensure they engage the right companies in their programmes and that our offering remains relevant.
Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Network is constantly evolving - our team, our programmes, and our members. The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of activities and rapidly gain responsibility.
In your first 6 months:
We'll need you to get settled quickly. Through meetings with relevant colleagues and online training, we'll help you to become familiar with our way of working and value proposition.
After onboarding, we’ll expect you to:
Take over planning our monthly members’ breakfasts, with support from another colleague initially and then on your own.
Contribute to implementing our Light Key Account Management (KAM) plan by answering participant queries/catering to participant’s needs as well as scheduling, joining, and eventually leading calls with a subset of our participating companies to nurture strong relationships with them and ensure high engagement.
Support the team in organising and delivering the UN Global Compact Network UK’s Annual General Meeting, taking place on 25 June.
