Job Description

SensFish promotes and supports sustainable fishing, aiming for a healthier ocean and future. Our technology enables science-based insight into the fish stocks, delivering AI Assurance and (near) real-time intelligence to various stakeholders from commercial fisheries to governmental organisations, whilst supporting their decision-making process. Further, our technology aggregates various datasets from above and underwater, embraced in bathymetry realms, for completeness of information. The vision of the project is to combat the problem of the overfished ocean and by doing so achieve multiple long-term outcomes like enabling sustainability and resilience to fisheries as well as better visibility of the seafood supply chain, enabling greater digitisation of fisheries management, and revitalisation of coastal communities (EMFF, 2023). The current ways of assessing fish stocks are lengthy, expensive and irregular and the measures to protect the fish population like ocean blocking are insufficient to restore the habitat as they are based on incomplete information. This is where SensFish technology comes in providing smarter, consistent, accurate and more resilient fisheries’ management, directly targeting global issues such as fish species extinction, illegal fishing, bycatch and ocean-related climate change impacts. This contributes to better balanced social, economic and environmental aspects.
