Job Description

The Operations Manager is the backbone of the NOLS operations in Mexico. As part of the NOLS Mexico leadership team you will collaborate with the Program Manager and Campus Director to ensure a high level of student service and staff satisfaction. This is a very dynamic position as we operate along almost 1000 miles in the Baja Peninsula, connecting our internal operations with our external support connections in ranches, fisheries, charming Baja towns, to resupply courses, drop and pick up courses, and other operational needs. You will travel the peninsula and its spectacular views.

  • Location: Bahia Coyote, Baja California Sur, Mexico

  • Contract type: 67% (8 months) position. Full-time from August 21, 2023, through April 21, 2024.

  • Start date: August 21st, 2023

  • Benefits: Insurance Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available at a special NOLS rate to seasonal employees. Private housing is available on site  and must participate on house duties tasks, on a weekly rotation. Kitchen, bathroom, staples and living areas are communal with other NOLS Mexico in-town staff (and field faculty when on-site).

What does the Mexico Operations Manager do?

  • Provide an excellent student and staff experience by overseeing all operations, including outdoor gear services, food services, facilities, and vehicles, and supporting those so that all operations departments operate optimally.

  • Creates and communicates the logistical calendar for all courses, coordinating departments functions to serve them, communication happens in English and Spanish.

  • Builds relationships with external partners throughout the operating areas, communicates with them and organizes them to support the logistics.

  • Maintain safety and regular servicing of NOLS' fleet of vehicles following regulations and NOLS policies; administer defensive driving curriculum as necessary.

  • Manage operations expense, revenue, and selected asset budgets.

  • Prepare seasonal reports related to NOLS Mexico's performance.

  • Occasionally, manage emergencies and student issues, including intervention and family contact.
