Grade: D42A £38,755 - £46,823 including. Outer London Weighting

#Job Purpose
Collaborate with colleagues across Barnardo's to ensure we attract, retain and develop a representative workforce through designing and implementing effective and inclusive employment practice for staff and volunteers. Support the successful implementation of Barnardo’s Diversity Strategy and shape the future of EDI within Barnardo’s by being a passionate advocate who inspires change at all levels in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, lead and implement equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategies and employment initiatives.
Collaborate with the EDI Strategy Project Manager to shape the EDI strategy and continually identify developments in EDI and new ways for advancing EDI within the charity.
Build strong relationships and partnerships across Barnardo’s to manage and coordinate EDI policies, processes and initiatives.
Evaluate the impact of EDI activity and key performance indicators, sharing learning and best practice, writing reports and board papers.
Produce and analyse the HR Diversity Dashboard.
Design and implement training programmes at all levels on relevant EDI awareness topics, unconscious bias and cultural competence.
Benchmark employment practice internally and externally and participate in Stonewall index and other benchmarking initiatives.
Undertake Equality Impact Assessments on key projects and policies and support people colleagues to undertake EIA’s.
Provide effective advice and support to managers and leadership teams.
Promoting the charity externally as an employer committed to EDI.
Take an active role at Corporate Equality Board and support Corporate Director EDI Leads.
Support staff equality support forums.
Develop and maintain links with internal and external stakeholders.
The role includes occasional travel throughout the UK with potential overnight stays.
#Essential criteria
- Strong knowledge of equalities’ legislation, best practice and inclusion topics expertise i.e. race, LGBT, gender identity, disability, mental health.
- Significant experience of designing and implementing effective EDI strategies and initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience of HR processes and how to assess these through an EDI lens.
- Experience of advising senior leaders.
- Experience of benchmarking, report writing, equality impact assessments and presenting.
- Strong collaboration and consulting skills.
- Ability to champion EDI initiatives and inspire change.
- Ability to manipulate and analyse data, identifying trends.

- Experience of working in a complex multi-site environment.
- Experience of managing complex projects.
- Demonstrable track record in achieving change.
- Strong digital skills and ability to use MS office suite and Oracle (desirable).
- Strong presenting and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross functional team.
- Ability to juggle competing demands and work with ambiguity.
